Big scare for T1! After a great finish of the Spring Split now came the news that the line-up of T1 has been infected with the Coronavirus. Four T1 players and one of the coaches have been infected with Covid-19 and will have to focus on getting better.

T1 infected with Corona

As the organization recently announced, players Moon “Oner” Hyeon-joon, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, Ryu “Keria” Min-seok and Choi “Zeus” Woo-je from T1’s League of Legends team have contracted the virus. In addition, one of the team’s coaches, Kim “Moment” Ji-hwan, has also caught it.

However, it seems that the rest of the team members are still healthy and have not contracted the virus from the others. The news comes just a day after the 2022 LCK Spring Split Final, which T1 easily won against Gen.G. At the same time, they became the first team in the world to qualify for the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational.

Team must go into quarantine

Because of the Corona infection, the team has to slow down. Now they have to follow the rules of the South Korean government and get healthy again. In a statement it says that the infected players ” will be quarantined until April 9 and treated in the team’s accommodation. We will ensure that the players get plenty of rest and everything necessary for a speedy recovery during this time.”

Fortunately, MSI 2022 doesn’t start until May 10 and there’s still a full month until then. Barring any serious episodes, all members of T1 should have recovered by then and even be able to prepare for the tournament as normal.

Corona creates challenges at events

LCK competitors have had to deal with COVID-19 infections more often this Spring Split. Even since the competition began in January, several teams have reported a Corona infection or two in their lineups, and some teams have had to get a substitute because of it. However, there have also been cases where teams have been unable to start matches because they have not been able to assemble a suitable team for the matches.

At the moment, South Korea is again struggling with rising corona infections. Nevertheless, the country will host the MSI in 2022. The event is scheduled to take place in Busan, the second largest city in South Korea. However, it will still take a month until then, and the situation with corona infections may have calmed down somewhat by then. T1 should also be back on its feet by then.
