Bren Esports owner cleared of drug smuggling allegations

According to a report, Bren Esports founder, Filipino businessman Bernard Chong, is acquitted of drug trafficking charges.

The Philippine National Bureau had accused Bernard Chong of being part of a drug trafficking organization. Bren was accused of trafficking $33.6 million in methamphetamines and was wanted by authorities in his home country for arrest.

Businessman acquitted of drug trafficking charges

Last June 2, 2021, Philippine authorities issued an arrest warrant for businessman Bernard Chong. Bren was linked to the trafficking of illegal substances through his ties with the company “Fortuneyield Cargo Services Corporation.”

After several years of being charged with a serious crime, Bernard Chong petitioned the judge to have all charges against him dropped. According to information disclosed by Valo2Asia, in Chong’s petition to the Manila court, he argues that the court lacked jurisdiction and had grossly abused its discretion.

Chong’s petition to the judge brought a positive result for the businessman. However, the judge in charge ruled that his petition was completely valid; therefore, it was overturned, and the businessman was acquitted of the drug trafficking charges.

To be acquitted of the charges, the Filipino businessman proved with evidence that his business relationship with Fortuneyield Cargo Services Corporation had ended long before it was discovered that the company was using his shipping services to traffic drugs.

Bernard Chong responded to drug trafficking allegations

Through his Twitter account, the Filipino businessman responded for the first time to the allegations against him. Specifically, on August 2, 2022, Bernard Chong made those publications to categorically deny the accusations against him that are damaging his good image.

In addition, Bernard Chong assured that he trusted in the justice of his country and that the truth is always stronger than lies. At the same time, he commented that all the people who know him can attest to his personality and confirm that he is a person who likes to do things correctly. Finally, to conclude his statement, Bernard Chong thanked everyone for supporting him.

After a while, the businessman always proved to tell the truth and not be involved with these serious accusations.
