Better rewards for VALORANT competitive players

When the new act- and season-based tournament system known as Premier launches in a global beta at the beginning of Episode 6, Act 3, probably in early May 2023, the competitive experience in VALORANT will change.

Teams may have five players in this “road to pro” system. These teams can participate in regular weekly matches spread throughout a season during each act; the season ends with a playoff to define the champion for each skill level by region.

In the future, Premier will be an entry point for amateur players who want to join the VCT Challengers leagues.

VALORANT Premier

The new Premier system should offer a better competitive experience outside of ranked matches. So it has the potential to be much more rewarding than the conventional competitive mode. However, while Premier has the opportunity to be more rewarding, perhaps Riot Games could take this opportunity to make the competitive way in the game more rewarding.

Rewards at the end of each act

Relative to most multiplayer titles with a competitive/ranked mode, VALORANT is lagging if we talk about rewards. At the end of each episode, players get a weapon of the highest act rank they acquired during the attack, plus an act rank badge that can be displayed on a player card and nothing else.

In contrast, Call of Duty has just introduced a ranked play mode in Modern Warfare 2, and while it’s not perfect, it is one of the most lucrative in terms of material rewards. Players receive incentives at the end of the season based on their skill level, a reward track for winning, and a reward track for ranking up.

Players can obtain many items, such as business cards, badges, weapon blueprints, amulets, decals, operator skins, and camouflage.

Games like League of Legends, Rocket League, and Overwatch 2 have robust incentive systems if we talk about ranked matches.

Interestingly, CS:GO, one of VALORANT’s main rivals, is one of the only known multiplayer games that lack concrete competitive rewards. When a CS:GO player advances to a new skill level on the leaderboard, they receive no rewards.

Improvements to VALORANT rewards

But the rumor is that Valve will soon launch a Counter-Strike 2 beta. So VALORANT could use a little spark to improve its rewards.

One of these options is to create a short season pass with some incentives that are only good for ranked games. Something similar to MW2, especially if there is a tempting reward at the end, like a weapon skin.

Overwatch 2 includes a series of seasonal challenges for ranked matches only and a reward system. If players can earn competitive points that can be used to get golden firearms for each hero; or even small perks, such as titles or Radianite, it would be an improvement over what VALORANT receives now.
