For everyone who follows the CS:GO competitive scene daily, it’s disappointing how the level of Brazilian teams has fallen in Tier 1 tournaments. After winning it all in 2016 and 2017, no Brazilian team has been relevant in tier 1 tournaments.

Now, Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, or “The Professor,” as he is popularly known in the CS:GO competitive scene, has shared his thoughts about the decline of Brazilian teams. In addition, the Brazilian also mentioned the actions teams should take to return to the top.

FalleN gives his opinion regarding the Brazilian CS:GO scene today

After FURIA lost their second match to NiP and put their record at 0-2 in the Legends Stage of the Paris Major, FalleN shared his thoughts on Alexandre “gAuLeS” Borba’s Portuguese broadcast.

According to FalleN, the only way for a Brazilian team to return to the top in the CS:GO scene is for all its players to live in Europe. Furthermore, the Brazilian legend clarifies that it is not just about playing tournaments and bootcamps in this region, as they currently do. But for FalleN, players must have a life outside CS:GO.

FalleN says that, although Brazilian teams have underperformed in recent times, the skill of their players is on a par with European players. However, the fact that players must constantly travel to different European countries for bootcamps is undoubtedly really exhausting. The captain of Imperial Esports said that the only way to solve this inconvenience would be to live in Europe.

FalleN claims that European teams have an advantage

Another comment made by Imperial Esports captain and Brazilian CS:GO legend FalleN was that European teams have an advantage because they can practice at the highest level and attend tournaments while living at home.

In addition, FalleN mentions that players can completely get away from training or tournaments by sharing with family and friends, something that, without a doubt, Brazilian teams cannot do, as they will be in hotels or Gaming House. As a result, the players can refresh themselves mentally to continue in their day-to-day lives.

All this that FalleN mentions makes a lot of sense because if we analyze the result of Brazilian teams in the CS:GO scene, we can realize that the fall started when the NA scene lost relevance. As a result, the top-tier tournaments moved to Europe in the early 2020s. During 2016 and 2017, when FalleN at Luminosity, SK Gaming, and MIBR were on the cusp of the scene, CS:GO in NA was at its best.

Most FURIA, paiN Gaming, and even Imperial players live in the United States. As a result, they must constantly travel to Europe to participate in all tournaments, which, according to FalleN, is a stress for the players in the long run.

Imperial tried to bring joy back to Brazil

When FalleN created Imperial Esports in 2022, almost all of its players lived in Europe, which improved, and a lot, the team’s performance in the different tournaments they participated in. The team even came very close to reaching the playoffs of the PGL Major Antwerp. However, the team could not maintain consistency, and its level of play continued to decline.

FURIA is the only Brazilian team still alive in the Paris Major. If the Brazilians fall to G2 Esports in the upcoming BO3, it will be the first time since 2019 that Brazil is not present in the playoffs of a Major.
