Stage 2 of DreamLeague S20 is quickly coming to an end. Only two rounds of matches are left to be played and BetBoom Team are already qualified for the playoffs, having five victories and zero defeats. Five of the other competitors are still struggling to secure one of the remaining three playoffs spots.

For Team Aster (0 W – 5 L) and 9Pandas (1 W – 4 L), the tournament is practically over. Based on what we’ve seen so far and the current scores, the most likely qualified teams will be BetBoom, PSG.LGD, Evil Geniuses, and Gaimin Gladiators.

Mathematically, the first two of these teams are pretty much guaranteed a spot at this point. Gaimin Gladiators are also very likely to qualify thanks to their current score and the fact that they will face Aster and EG in the last two matches. In both cases, it’s hard to imagine them losing.

But even if they win just one of these two matches, it will be enough to send them to the playoffs of DreamLeague S20.

Day 5 results

On day 5 of DreamLeague S20, four matches were played. In the first one, Gaimin Gladiators defeated Talon Esports using some very nasty drafts: Undying, Bloodseeker, Underlord, Broodmother, Faceless Void, and other heroes were picked by them and proved to be highly effective when used in the right way.

In Dota 2, it’s all about power peaks, timings, and so on. A lot of things can work but only if the execution is right and the context is favorable.

The second match was the most important one, not just of day 5 but of the entire stage 2. People expected it to be much harder than it was. BetBoom defeated PSG.LGD quite easily, in 35 and 43 minutes. For game 1 they picked Faceless Void, Storm Spirit, and Doom. For game 2 they picked Morphling, Templar Assassin, and Doom.

PSG.LGD tried to play an Alchemist lineup and failed. Then they switched to a high-tempo draft and failed again in the late game.

9Pandas lost again, this time against Evil Geniuses. The match was tough but EG eventually won 2-1.

The fourth match took place between Team Spirit and Team Aster, who are probably very demoralized after what happened in the second stage of DreamLeague S20. Spirit played two Ember plus Rubick drafts against a double Morphling plus Undying draft. Both times, the CIS team won.
