Which teams and players are most discussed on Twitter? To answer that, Rishi Chadha, Global Head of Creator & Gaming Content Partnerships at Twitter Gaming, shared fascinating statistics about esports discussions on Twitter. Spoiler: Brazil took top positions in multiple categories, vamos! 

Most popular esports players on Twitter

According to Twitter’s data, the most popular esports player by number of Tweets is Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, CS:GO player for Imperial Esports. A few months ago, FalleN got into a controversy with Duncan “Thorin” Shields, analyst and esports journalist, who accused him of being “the most over-rated player in the history of CS:GO” on Twitter. Such a statement caused a lot of discussion in the community and the responses from many popular esports personalities in defense of FalleN definitely boosted his presence on the platform.

The second place goes to Tyson “TenZ” Ngo, who plays for Sentinels’ Apex Legends team, which has over 1 million followers and recently revealed the new addition to their squad — Twitch streamer shroud. Apart from being an esports pro, Ngo is also a popular content creator.

The third position finisher Bruno “Nobru” Goes is a professional Free Fire player and the CEO of Fluxo team. He does various media activities simultaneously, including streaming, creating content, competing on the Free Fire pro scene and running an organization. 

Most popular esports teams on Twitter 

The most discussed team on Twitter was the Brazilian multi-gaming organization LOUD. The club has 1.4M followers on the platform and fields representatives in Free Fire (their primary discipline), League of Legends, Valorant, Fortnite, as well as many influencers who also promote the club.

The second spot is occupied by Karmine Corp, an esports organization of French origin, which competes in Valorant, League of Legends, Rocket League, Teamfight Tactics and TrackMania. The organization gained popularity after signing Martin ‘Rekkles’ Larssen to LoL roster. The team’s performance during LFL boosts the viewership of the league every time. They even competed against KOI, the Spanish team owned by popular streamer Ibai Llanos, and this show match attracted around 470,000 viewers. 

Most popular esports leagues on Twitter

The most talked-about esports league on Twitter was CBLOL, the Brazil League of Legends professional competition. Even though CBLOL leads by Twitter activity, its viewership is smaller compared to LCK, which finished in the third position. According to Esports Charts data, ongoing CBLOL 2022 Split 2 has 152K Peak Viewers by the time of writing, while LCK Summer 2022 has 642K spectators by the same metric.

The second spot belongs to Apex Legends esports account, which shares news about Apex Legends Global Series. ALGS esports circuit includes many stages so the series is in the public eye for the most of the year. Other leagues that got into the ranking are Call of Duty League and Overwatch League.
