Toronto Ultra CREATOR Overgirl forms first professional women’s Call of Duty team

Women’s esports continues to grow steadily over the years, and more and more professional women’s teams are competing professionally. However, in the Call of Duty scene, we had yet to see a professional team made up of only female players.

However, this has changed, as Meagan “Overgirl” Stewart, content creator for the Toronto Ultra, founded the Toronto Tsunami team, which is the first all-female team in the professional Call of Duty scene.

There is no doubt that this is great news for the competitive CoD scene and for the female esports community who love this awesome video game. Moreover, this news may help other organizations or, in any case, female streamers decide to venture into the scene with different female rosters.

Overgirl announces the first professional women’s Call of Duty team

Through a very exciting announcement via their Twitter account, Toronto Ultra content creator Overgirl has announced the creation of the Toronto Tsunami, the first professional all-female COD team.

In the announcement, we can see that the girls that are part of the Toronto Tsunami lineup are the following:

• Lily
• Mizu
• Anarchy
• FDL
• Emilia Rose – SUB
• Brian Viiox – Head Coach

All five players and the Head Coach were part of the Sway Esports team, which the Toronto Tsunami replaced. Sway Esports was, without a doubt, a dominant team in the CoD Women’s Pro Circuit, and they managed to become FPC S1 champions.

WxC Tournament

The WxC tournament was created by Alyssa “Allycxt” Parker, current CDL commentator, and is a competition purely for female Call of Duty teams. After two open qualifiers, the eight teams that would play in the $10,000 main event were announced.

Now, Toronto Tsunami is competing in the WxC in truly impressive fashion. The girls have a perfect 7-0 record and, thanks to that, are in first place on the overall leaderboard.

While the announcement concerns the first women’s team in the professional Call of Duty scene, this does not mean that different women’s teams did not exist before. Also, we should remember that one of the legends of women’s CoD, Kelsie “Kels” Grieg managed to make history by being the first woman to qualify for the CDL Challengers Elite, a CoD competition that male players undoubtedly dominate.

Finally, let’s talk about Viiox, which has coached several of the top CoD teams in the Challengers division over the past two seasons. Thanks to this, the Toronto Tsunami girls will be covered by a coach who knows the professional CoD scene inside out.
