If there is a word to describe the new Misfits League of Legends roster in the LEC, it would be promising. Misfits Gaming have just announced their starting LEC roster for the 2022 season and it is the youngest roster by average age. Here’s a breakdown of Misfits young and promising line-up for next season.
Looking to build upon the moderate success in 2021
In 2021 they made a promising run to end the Summer Split in sixth place and enter the playoffs. Unfortunately they lost to Rogue in the upper bracket and Fnatic in the lower bracket, in two 5 game series. Led by the breathtaking talents of French mid laner Vetheo who dominated the LFL before joining and top laner HiRit, Misfits look poised for another breakout year.
Vetheo has been troubled by his inconsistency and champion pool issues, but if the meta revolves again early game skirmishing, his talent will undoubtedly shine. Best known for his Zoe, Leblanc and Sylas performances, he needs to become more comfortable on control mages for Misfits to take the next step.
We love to see ERL players getting their shot on the big stage.
After a strong bootcamp with our squad, we’re excited to welcome @MersaLoL to our starting roster for Week 1. Welcome to the LEC! pic.twitter.com/8vDABZBKrz

HiRit on the other hand was performing like a top three top laner in the league for most of the year, getting a lot of resources and using them properly. With the return of Alphari and Finn from the LCS and the change of scenery for Wunder, Hirit’s competition just got a lot stronger. Still the departure of Razork to Fnatic will surely hurt their chances of winning in the beginning, considering how vital he was to his laner’s performances.
His aggressive playstyle as well as the creative pathing allowed his team to gain leads by punishing mistakes rather than sheer laning prowess. Jungler Shlatan and support Mersa have been upgraded to their starting LEC role from their LFL team Misfits Premier.
New and young bot lane
The experienced bot laner Kobbe who left to join Astralis is being replaced by ADC Neon who had a solid year considering his team Schalke was crumbling due to the financial situation. To judge any of Schalke’s players for their performance last year would be unfair considering the situation, but Neon has consistently proved to be above average in his role. With the departure of Hans Sama, Reckless and Crownshot the ADC role has lost a lot of talent in the LEC, and this might be a great opportunity for Neon to prove himself in his second stint with the organization.
Happy to be back with misfits, really happy with the people I'll be working with, hope you guys will cheer for us 🙂 https://t.co/jcCnnO0851

The first time he was a part of Misfits, he and several other ERL league players like Lider and Obsess were thrown into a tough situation, as LEC starters on a new team in the middle of the season, without any practice. As for support Vander, he is still under contract with Misfits and has been relegated to the LFL team, but can be called up to the LEC squad at any time. Rumors were circling that Vander was considering retiring to pursue coaching, so being a starter on the LFL team might be one of the steps towards that.
On paper the team doesn’t look very strong, considering it fields two rookies who have to adjust to the game at the highest level. But that was last year as well and they managed to sneak into the playoffs. Every team in the LEC is drastically different from last year, and it will take some time for teams to get used to each other, so although underdogs, Misfits Gaming might surprise a lot of people in 2022.
