As part of its annual $45M event, Gamers8 has announced another of the tournaments that will be played and the amount of prizes to be distributed. Fortnite, in its Zero Build mode, will be played as part of the Gamers8 2023 event and will have a prize pool of $2,000,000.

There is no doubt that this news falls phenomenally in the Fortnite community. Recall that many popular organizations have recently decided to step away from the scene, citing sponsor issues. Now, having a large-scale event with a large prize pool being organized could be instrumental in reviving the competitive scene of this magnificent Battle Royale.

Gamers8 Announces $2M Zero Build Tournament

As part of what they call “the world’s largest esports event,” Gamers8 has announced the Fortnite Zero Build tournament with a $2,000,000 prize pool.

According to the published announcement, the tournament will occur from July 6-9, 2023, and be played in LAN format in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. On the other hand, the participants for this tournament will be defined according to their participation in the upcoming events organized by DreamHack.

There is no doubt that Gamers8 will return with this tournament in Zero Build mode, thanks to its success in the 2022 edition. However, let’s remember that in that edition, there were two separate events, one for this modality and another for the casual BR, with builds and so on.

How do teams qualify for the tournament?

This time they have made it more than clear since players must participate in one of the upcoming DreamHack tournaments and, in addition, have good results.

DreamHack states that duos must attend San Diego, Dallas, and Sweden events and finish in the top ten. By doing so, the players will earn the direct quota to dispute the Fortnite grand final in LAN format at the Gamers8 event. However, it has also been highlighted that some of the best Fortnite players worldwide could receive a direct invitation to participate.

DreamHack schedule

San Diego

  • Mode: Fortnite Zero Build Duos
  • Date: April 7-9
  • Prizes: $250,000

Dallas

  • Mode: Fortnite Zero Build Duos
  • Date: July 2-4
  • Prizes: $250,000

Sweden

  • Mode: Fortnite Zero Build Duos
  • Date: June 16-19
  • Prizes: $250,000

As mentioned, the top ten duos from each tournament will be directly invited to the LAN event in Saudi Arabia.

There is no doubt that this is an excellent way for DreamHack to ensure that only the best and most consistent duos throughout a season compete in a LAN tournament where there is such a spectacular prize pool.

In addition, this also incentivizes teams to return to the Fortnite scene and take back into account this Battle Royale that is undoubtedly one of the most popular in the esports community.
