There is no doubt that in recent years we have witnessed the significant progress that different organizations have made in their quest to include women in the professional competitive esports scene.

One of the gaps not thought to be narrowed soon has done so. For Kelsie “kelsaroony” or “kels” Grieg has become the first woman to qualify for Call of Duty Challengers Elite in the history of esports.

WaR qualifies for CDL Challengers Elite

Kelsaroony and all her WaR teammates have managed to qualify for the next season of the CDL Challengers Elite on January 5. Remember that this tournament will occur from January 18 to February 2 in different CDL regions, including Europe, where WaR lives.

Kelsaroony has shared on her Twitter account that the team has qualified for the CDL Challengers Elite. It is worth noting that she is the only woman on the team, and, as we mentioned, she is the first female player to qualify for the Call of Duty Challengers Elite in the history of the CDL.

About Kelsaroony

Kelsie “Kels” Grieg is a female player who has been working hard for many years in the competitive Call of Duty scene, competing at a high level in male-dominated esports.

Due to her extraordinary achievement, Kelsaroony has received many messages of praise and congratulations from different personalities in the Call of Duty League.

First of all, we have the coach of Los Angeles Thieves, Shane “ShAnE” McKerral, who said:

“Let’s go, Kels!!! You’re a menace”

CDL’s general manager, Daniel Tsay, also showed affection for the enormous achievement, along with other people.

To all this, Kels responded:

“The shows of support and encouragement I’ve received have been incredible. I hope it will encourage other women to participate and eliminate some of the stereotypes people have.”

And it’s not all just about qualifying for the CDL Challengers Elite, as Kels demonstrated a spectacular level of play and some impressive stats.

Kels follows in the footsteps of Kayla “Squizzy” Squires

There is no doubt that the 21-year-old Scottish player is following in the footsteps of Squizzy. Another woman who managed to qualify for the Call of Duty World League in 2015. It should be noted that the CDL is a different game; Challenger Elite teams can go on to face professional teams in top-level tournaments.

Now, Kels and her teammates will try to have an outstanding performance at the CDL Challengers Elite Europe. The objective is to arouse the interest of the various CDL organizations and the world of esports.

In addition, in the last hours, the player herself has shared a Tweet in which she refers that she has signed a contract with a green team; in her message, she points out:

“Green isn’t an ugly colour i guess huh.”

This makes us presume that she could dress very soon for OpTic Gaming. This is because, in other messages, she seems to confirm it without saying many words.
