LoL Kickoff 2023 preview

After many offseason moves and expectations from fans and teams worldwide, this new year means only one thing: we will light our League of Legends competitive fire.

The LoL competitive scene is preparing to kick off the 2023 season with an inaugural tournament, which will be played in all nine regions worldwide, including the European LEC.

For this 2023 season, Riot Games has something unique to kick off, the Kickoff 2023 tournament.

This tournament marks the start of a new season that will be full of excitement and allow all teams worldwide to unveil the faces that will represent them throughout 2023.

The League of Legends Kickoff 2023 will be played between January 10 and 11, 2023. During these two days, the nine leagues of the world will put their respective players on each of the computers in a tournament that has an entirely innovative format.

Riot Games is clear that Kickoff 2023 will be a short, dynamic and exciting tournament so that the start of the season will not go unnoticed.

According to LoLesports, the Kickoff tournament replaces the former League of Legends All-Stars:

“While All-Stars has provided players and fans unforgettable memories over the years, the current schedule can be challenging for many of its participants. Replacing All-Stars with Kickoff, a season kickoff event will allow professional players to take a well-deserved break and provide fans with a new and exciting platform to complement the local competitions and celebrations usually organized by the different regions at the end of the year.”

Details and format of the LoL Kickoff 2023

• Each league team will send one of their players to compete in the LoL Kickoff 2023. Each league decides how the teams will be formed, so the LCS and PCS may play differently.
• It will be played in a best-of-three format, except for the LPL, which will play in a best-of-one knockout format.
• Champions will not be banned; you can play with your favorite.
• Players will not be able to repeat the selected champions. This means that, after using any champion, you will not be able to choose it again during the tournament.

Tuesday, January 10th:

• LCK: 10:30 – 14:00 CET.
• VCS (Vietnam): 14:00 – 17:00 CET
• CBLoL (Brazil): 17:00 – 20:00 CET
• LCS: 20:00 – 23:00 CET

Rebroadcast of the rebroadcasts (Day 1): 23:00 – 06:00 CET

Wednesday, January 11th:

• LJL (Japan): 08:00 – 11:00 CET
• LPL: 11:00 – 14:00 CET
• PCS (Pacific): 14:00 – 17:00 CET
• LEC: 17:00 – 20:00 CET
• LLA: 20:00 – 23:00 CET

Rebroadcast of the rebroadcasts (Day 2): 23:00 – 05:00 CET

LoL Kickoff 2023 Awards

The reasons for the tournament are to open and introduce the players of the 2023 season. While the prize will be something of value, the winning team representatives from the respective leagues will be able to design a gesture for League of Legends.
