In the last few months, we have observed how different Tier 2 teams in the CS:GO competitive scene have shown better performance than those Tier 1 teams. As a result, great teams have had to say goodbye very early to some of the most important tournaments held in the last few months.

Now, as we know, the Paris Major is leaving a lot of emotions thanks to teams like Apeks, Into The Breach, Monte, and Team GamerLegion (Tier 2) that have been putting the “favorite” teams in trouble. In addition, FaZe Clan and G2 Esports, two of the teams that dominated the scene in recent years, could be eliminated from the tournament in this Legends Stage after starting with a 1-2 record.

However, teams like Team Vitality and Heroic continue at their best possible level and, thanks to their three consecutive victories, managed to qualify for the Champions Stage. Now, one of the best players in the world, Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut, mentioned why he believes that the lower-level teams are so successful in the Paris Major.

ZywOo explains the surprises of Tier 2 teams in the Paris Major

In an interview with HLTV after Team Vitality qualified for the Champions Stage, ZywOo detailed why Tier 2 teams have an excellent Paris Major.

According to the 22-year-old French superstar, small or Tier 2 teams want to succeed much more than big teams. Furthermore, ZywOo mentions that, in his opinion, teams like Monte, Team GamerLegion, and Into The Breach are much more motivated than FaZe or G2 Esports and, as a result, have shown a better level.

On the other hand, ZywOo also mentions the excitement he observes, feels, and hears when he sees these teams play on stage, as the players scream and feel a great passion that you don’t see from the big teams.

Team Vitality prepared for six months for the Paris Major

After it was revealed that the last Major in the CS:GO era would be played in Paris, ZywOo notes that he and Dan “apEX” Madesclaire and Team Vitality began preparing heavily for this tournament. In addition, ZywOo also mentions that they had a lot of pressure at the time of qualifying for the playoffs (Champions Stage) because now they will do it in front of their home crowd.

However, ZywOo points out that Team Vitality enjoyed the three matches they won in the Legends Stage and tried to make some jokes during the matches to relieve some of the pressure on their team.

CS:GO scene on the rise

While it is true that everyone could talk about the bad moment that FaZe Clan and G2 Esports are experiencing, there is no doubt that we are witnessing a level increase in the CS:GO competitive scene.

Tier 2 teams are now much more competitive, which could generate much more balanced tournaments and significantly increase the game’s popularity. Also, we are entering the Counter-Strike 2 era, and these teams are showing a great level; it only makes us dream that we will have a highly competitive CS2 scene.
