Zeal and PSG.LGD part ways

After PSG.LGD had a disappointing run in the Berlin Major, where they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. As a result, LGD and Nicholas “zeal” Lim have decided to part ways. Now, zeal is a free agent looking for options to continue competing at the highest level.

These changes in large organizations are very common after a “failure” or, rather, a disappointment in a major tournament. Unfortunately, that was exactly what happened with PSG.LGD, a team that had an excellent performance in the DPC China 2023 Tour 2: Division I, as they were the runners-up of the tournament. However, their early elimination from the Major makes the organization make drastic decisions regarding their roster for the rest of the season.

PSG.LGD announces that they are parting ways with zeal

Through an announcement on their Twitter account, PSG.LGD announced that, by mutual agreement, they are parting ways with zeal. They also wish the player the best of luck in his future as a professional.

As mentioned, PSG.LGD came to the Berlin Major as a strong candidate to go far. In addition to being runners-up in the DPC China 2023 Tour 2: Division I, the team finished in fourth place in Group A, which gave them a chance to fight from the Upper Bracket in the Playoffs. However, their 1-2 loss to Tundra Esports and then 0-2 loss to Talon Esports completed their disappointing participation in these playoffs.

PSG.LGD’s performance in the Berlin Major playoffs was disappointing

Although the team came into the Berlin Major playoffs with a lot of confidence after taking fourth place in their group and starting from the Upper Bracket, they did not perform as well as they wanted and were crushed by their opponents. Each player tried in their way, but, in reality, they were not in sync.

As a result, PSG.LGD decide to start a clean slate with their Dota 2 squad. Zeal is the only player in the squad that has said goodbye to the organization, so the rest of the lineup, for now, remains intact.

On the other hand, this news may have come as quite a surprise to the team’s fans, as PSG.LGD, in general, has not performed badly so far in 2023. Except for their elimination in the Berlin Major playoffs early and suddenly, the team has been performing very well and with a high level of play. However, we all know such decisions are normal and even more so in large organizations.

For now, PSG.LGD has not communicated either the departure of another player or the signing of zeal’s replacement in the squad. This indicates that they may be taking some time to analyze their options, and, in addition, they may wait if other organizations also start to make changes to their squads.
