Finally, after weeks of speculations, the rumors have been confirmed. Both Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng and Soren “Bjergsen” Bjerg have joined 100 Thieves. This North American organization came very close to winning some important titles in 2022, but failed each time very close to the finish line.

But now that two of the world’s most legendary LoL players have decided to start competing for 100 Thieves, we will likely see some very exciting matches in LCS next season.

About 100 Thieves

100 Thieves finished LCS Summer and LCS Spring in second place. The first time, they got defeated by Evil Geniuses (0-3). The second time, the same thing happened against Cloud9. Fortunately for 100 Thieves, the team still managed to qualify for the 2022 World Championship, but the result was not spectacular: 11th-14th.

However, despite the disappointments, 100 Thieves showed us in 2022 that they can become the strongest team in North America. And that is why they signed a new roster.

Only two members of the former 100T roster have  been retained: Milan “Tenacity” Oleksij and Can “Closer” Celik. They are the position 3 and position 4 players. In 2022, both of them did a great job.

Apart from Doublelift and Bjergsen, 100 Thieves also signed Alan “Busio” Cwalina, who used to play for the 100 Thieves Academy team.

About Doublelift

Doublelift needs very little introduction. He used to be the most famous LoL player in North America and won the LCS around eight times. He also finished second at MSI in 2019, which was a spectacular result for a North American team.

Doublelift took a two-year break and announced his retirement in 2020, but it seems that he still wants to compete, despite being almost 30 years old. In esports, players of his age usually retire. Meanwhile, he’s just restarting his career.

Nobody knows what to expect at this point. His return might prove to be impressive or it might turn into a complete disaster. The first 10 matches in the LCS will give us a better understanding of his new level. Does he still know how the game works or has he forgotten everything about it?

About Bjergsen

Bjergsen won six LCS titles with TSM and then announced his retirement at the age of 25. This was a bizarre decision that was eventually canceled. And now that Doublelift has decided to start playing again, he has chosen to join him and be his teammate on 100 Thieves’ new roster.

If Bjergsen is still Bjergsen and Doublelift is still Doublelift, 100 Thieves should easily be the number one LoL team in North America in 2023.
