Why Terrorblade is picked so often in Dota 2

At the professional level, Terrorblade gets picked more often than you’d expect. This hero seems to be loved by all and feared by all. But why?

So far, at DreamLeague S19, Terrorblade has been picked or banned 97 times. This makes him the 10th most contested hero in the game. And if we only take carry heroes into account, he is the most contested.

The strengths of Terrorblade

Terroblade excels in many different areas. First of all, he is a relatively strong laner. His HP is low at level 1 (488), but you can easily buy some items to make him much tankier against magical damage after the first few minutes. And what he lacks in HP, he certainly compensates with armor.

A level 1 Terrorblade has 9.4 armor, which is an enormous amount. This means that you can crush most offlaners if you have a good support with you, especially if they rely on physical damage. And most heroes do in the early game.

Another quality of Terrorblade is his +4 agility per level. This allows him to deal a lot of damage at level 5, and that level is further increased by his Metamorphosis. With three points in this ability, you will deal +50 damage per hit, in addition to gaining +380 attack range. These buffs last for 45 seconds.

During team fights, TB is very hard to kill. And if the team that picks him also picks a support that can keep him alive for long enough to guarantee that he can utilize his ultimate, this is a very scary carry to play against.

With a single use of his ultimate, Terroblade can turn the tide in a battle and then win the game off of it.

The hero’s natural damage is impressive, but you can easily increase it significantly by purchasing the right items. When he has a Manta Style and the illusions created by Conjure Image, Terrorblade is very hard to fight. Any team fight after the 25-minute mark needs to be treated with a lot of care. One tactical mistake and you’re lost.

Because of his damage output and illusions, Terrorblade is one of the fastest farmers in Dota 2. He doesn’t need much to get completely out of control and he can farm jungle camps from an early level.

All of these characteristics make TB one of the most effective carry heroes in the game.
