Why can’t dupreeh be IGL in CS2?

One of Counter-Strike’s legends and five-time Major champion, Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen, do not want to transition into the IGL role ahead of the CS2 release.

The 30-year-old experienced player said in an interview that he does not want to follow in the footsteps of his Danish compatriots, who decide to change this role when they finish their careers. This is surprising considering that a player as successful and winning as dupreeh has the necessary experience to take the reins of any team.

However, everything seems to indicate that Dupreeh does not want to leave his comfort zone because, as we all know, most IGLs can not display their full potential because they must be very attentive to all the details of their team’s game.

Dupreeh does not want to be IGL in CS2

Last August 24, on the popular HLTV podcast called HLTV Confirmed, dupreeh stated that he would not transition to the IGL role after the release of CS2. This was a great surprise to all the podcast hosts, as they all thought that the Dane would follow in the footsteps of his compatriots, the vast majority of whom end their careers as excellent IGLs. However, the five-time Major winner stated that he considers himself too “dumb” to be the IGL of any team.

In addition, dupreeh also points out that several times in his career, he tried to be IGL, but it has never been his strong point. As a result, he does not believe that when his career ends, he will be able to change that role, as there is no doubt that his performance will decline significantly.

As we all know, dupreeh is usually the entry fragger of the teams he has represented throughout his career, a really important role that requires great skills to handle it perfectly. Switching to a more passive role like IGL could lengthen Dupreeh’s career, as leaders/captains are responsible for making their teammates shine.

Dupreeh wants to stay active on the pro scene in CS2

In the interview, we could also hear dupreeh mention that he wants to stay active as a professional with the release of CS2. He also mentioned that his being a father does not affect his plans to stay in the game.

Dupreeh said that he does not feel that he is “finished,” he also mentioned that he has the same desire as always to work in a team and, above all, to continue to win trophies as a professional.

Currently, dupreeh is not in a good position in the competitive scene, as he is on the bench of Team Vitality despite helping them win the Paris Major. However, the organization decided to drop him to sign the promising young Israeli player, Shahar “flameZ” Shushan.

Any team would love an experienced player with winning blood like dupreeh in their starting lineup. However, the 30-year age barrier and the current crop of talented young players can have an impact when it comes to securing a spot on a major team.
