Version1 crowned champions of VCT 2023: Game Changers NA Series 2

The VCT 2023: Game Changers NA Series 2 is history, and we have Version1, one of the most dominant teams in the VALORANT Game Changers scene in the NA region, crowned champions after defeating Complexity GX3 3-0 in the Grand Final.

Likewise, it is worth noting that Version1 was completely dominant in this tournament, as, in addition to not losing a single game, they also did not concede a single map. As a result, in the four matches they played, they won nine maps and lost none. This is an absolute dominance on the scene of the highest competitive level in Game Changers in NA.

On the other hand, we have to make special mention to Complexity GX3 since, after losing to Version1 in the semifinals of the Upper Bracket, they had to play for their lives and win three BO3 in a row to qualify for the Grand Final of the tournament. We indeed expected a much more competitive and, above all, intense final. However, Version1 continues to prove that their level of play is a step above the rest of the GC girls.

Version1’s Road in VCT 2023: Game Changers NA Series 2

Version1’s journey in the VCT 2023: Game Changers NA Series 2 began in the Upper Bracket quarterfinals, as did all eight participating teams, against Overkill Black. The Version1 girls returned in this match with two comfortable 13-5 (Lotus) and 13-6 (Split) victories.

Then, in the Upper Bracket semifinals, they met Complexity GX3, whom they also crushed with a score of 2-0. However, COL put up a bit more of a fight in the first map, as it had to be defined in Overtime (14-12), but the second map was a real beating by Version1 (13-5 in Pearl). Finally, the UB Final match was against the newly formed Disguised GC team, where they won 13-5 (Haven) and 13-7 (Pearl) to seal their ticket to the tournament’s Grand Final.

Version1 vs. Complexity GX3 – Game Recap

As we mentioned, Version1 crushed COL in every way, as the series ended with a 3-0 score and, in none of the maps, they were threatened by a COL victory.

It all started on Bind, where the Version1 girls demonstrated an impressive level of play and cruised to a partial 10-2 first-half victory. Then, at the change of sides, COL could not stop the first three V1 offenses and fell by 2-13.

In the second map, Haven, V1 once again hit the table in the first half, but this time on the attacking side and came away with a resounding 11-1 partial victory. As expected, this score is virtually impossible to come back from, so Version1 secured their second victory with a score of 13-4.

Finally, in Pearl, we noticed a bit of relaxation on the part of the V1 girls, who began to try different strategies, as they were infinitely superior to COL. In the first half, V1 took an 8-4 victory, leaving them with five rounds to be crowned champions. Finally, after splitting several rounds with COL in the second half, V1 took a 13-9 victory to claim the VCT 2023: Game Changers NA Series 2 championship.
