The fourth week of the VCT League in the Pacific region concluded with some remarkable outcomes.

DRX and Gen.G emerged as dominant forces, securing four consecutive wins each, while surprising everyone with their impeccable performance. The underdogs of the tournament, the Zeta division, proved their mettle by winning three matches, leaving everyone stunned. Additionally, Global Esports achieved their first international match victory, finally ending their winless streak. Overall, this week also followed the same intensity as week 3.

Interestingly, all matches in the fourth week concluded with a 2-0 score. Let’s look at what happened in Week 4 of the VCT Pacific League.

DRX boys are looking unstoppable

DRX continues to dominate their opponents in the ongoing VCT League, as they secured yet another win against Southeast Asia’s best, Paper Rex. The first map of the game was played on Ascent. After conceding five rounds back-to-back on defense, Paper Rex secured their first round. At the end of the first half, the score was 9-3 in favor of DRX. Despite showing a counterattack for the first two rounds, DRX completely overwhelmed Paper Rex and secure the first map with a 13-5 score.

The teams moved on to Split for the second map, as Paper Rex hoped to mount a comeback against DRX. The match was a closely fought contest, but ultimately DRX emerged victorious once again. They control the initial half, securing seven rounds, and followed it up with another six in the second half. Kim “Kim” Myeong-gwan of DRX was named the MVP of the match for his outstanding performance.

RRQ surprises Team Secret

Team Secret had started the VCT League impressively, but their fortunes seem to have taken a turn. After two consecutive losses, they faced RRQ on their own map pick of Icebox. Although TS struggled in the early rounds, they managed to stabilize and finish the first half with five rounds. However, RRQ’s flawless strategic calls caught TS off guard multiple times, and ultimately the map belonged to RRQ, who secured a tight 13-10 victory.

In the second map of the match, RRQ carried forward their winning momentum from the previous game. Throughout the entire first half of the Split map, their opponent’s TS struggled to secure rounds, managing to win only 2. Despite a slightly improved performance in the latter half from TS, it was too late as RRQ needed just 3 more rounds to clinch the victory, which they achieved after facing some initial resistance. The final scoreline stood at 13-7 in favor of RRQ.

Gen.G register their fourth win in Pacific League

After witnessing two back-to-back match sweeps we are onto the second day of week 4 where GenG. met against T1. Interestingly, it was a clash between both host teams. The first map was Icebox. Although it was a T1 pick, Gen.G completely capitalise on this map. In the first half, the score was 9-3 in Gen.G’s favor which was converted into 13-5.

After securing a convincing victory on the first map, Gen.G entered the second map of Haven with a strong sense of confidence and determination. T1, on the other hand, struggled to counter Gen.G’s aggressive gameplay in the first half, with the score standing at 7-5 in favor of Gen.G. Unfortunately for T1, their situation deteriorated in the second half as they failed to win even a single round of attack, further widening the score gap. The match concluded with a commanding 13-5 scoreline in favor of Gen.G.

ZETA shuts DetonatioN FocusMe

The first match of the day featured a thrilling Korean showdown, and it was followed by a clash between two Japanese teams. Pretty much like the first match, this also ended with a one-sided 2-0 score. ZETA started as attackers on their own map pick of Ascent. The first half concluded with a 10-2 for ZETA. DFM absolutely needed a miraculous comeback on this point. But it looked like this was not that game as ZETA closed this map for themselves with a decent 13-9.

The next map of Haven was in complete command by ZETA. During the entire first half, DFM picked only 3 rounds. Eventually, it was ZETA who walk away with the second map as well with a 13-5 score.

Global Esports finally get a breakthrough

Global Esports, who had previously lost four matches in a row during the VCT 2023 circuit, managed to secure their first international series victory by defeating Talon Esports. GE boys were looking comfortable from the start itself. Finally, we got to see Abhirup “Lightningfast” Choudhury and Ganesh “SkRossi” Gangadhar in action. The first map of the match was GE’s map pick- Split. Global Esports comfortably secured the first map with a 13-6 score.

We saw a much closer contest on the map of Icebox. After the end of the first half, the score was neck to neck, which was 6-6. Moving to the second half round, Talon puts in an excellent fightback but trembles in the very last few rounds. Ultimately, Global Esports secured this map as well as this match. We cannot end this highlight without mentioning Park “Bazzi” Jun-ki excellent gameplay. He was a complete frag machine with 46 kills.
