The VCT Americas League wrapped up another week of matches, and LOUD and Cloud9 are looking strong as ever. NRG ended up this week on a positive note. However, the conditions of a team like MIBR and KRÜ Esports are not looking positive.

Here are the recaps from VCT Americas week 5 league matches:

NRG Esports vs 100 Thieves

In the very first match of week 5, NRG clinched a decisive 2-0 victory over their opponents. The match commenced with NRG’s map pick of Bind, where they began on defense and quickly took control, leading 7-5 at halftime. NRG maintained their dominant performance in the second half, ultimately securing the map with a convincing 13-7 scoreline. This triumph gave NRG a commanding 1-0 lead before moving to Fracture.

The second map, Fracture, proved to be a nightmare for 100 Thieves as NRG dominated the first half with a commanding 11-1 score. NRG maintained their momentum in the second half, swiftly finishing the map with two more rounds and a resounding 13-3 overall score, securing their victory in the match.

MIBR vs FURIA

The Brazilian teams faced off in the follow-up match, with FURIA emerging as the clear victor with a 2-0 score. This was not unexpected, as MIBR had been struggling at the league table. Despite MIBR’s strong start, with the first half ending at an 8-4 score, FURIA made a remarkable comeback in the second half, winning seven rounds in a row. Although the outcome of the match seemed uncertain at times, FURIA ultimately secured the first map with a hard-fought 13-11 score. With FURIA’s momentum firmly established, they carried their performance into the second map, closing it out with a dominant 13-5 score and sealing their victory in the match.

FURIA took an early lead of 10-2 against MIBR in the first half and continued to dominate the game. MIBR struggled to keep up with the pressure and fell apart, allowing FURIA to secure the second map of Split with a comfortable 13-7 victory.

Cloud9 vs Sentinels

As day two of week five began, Cloud9 faced off against Sentinels in an exhilarating matchup. The first map, Lotus, saw Sentinels take an early lead by winning three consecutive rounds. However, Cloud9 quickly gained momentum and secured an impressive nine rounds in a row to finish the first half 9-3. The second half was equally dominated by Cloud9 as they quickly scored four rounds and closed out the map, leaving Sentinels with no chance to recover.

Cloud9’s dominance continued on their map pick, Fracture, as they finished the first half with a commanding 11-1 lead. Although Sentinels managed to secure five consecutive rounds in the second half, Cloud9 maintained their composure and finished the map with two more rounds to their name.

Evil Geniuses vs Leviatán

Map 1 on Split saw Leviatán take a strong lead of 8-4 at halftime, but Evil Geniuses made an impressive comeback in the second half by securing 9 rounds. Ultimately, EG closed out the map with a 13-10 score, giving them the early advantage.

Map 2 on Pearl saw a close first half with a 6-6 score. However, Leviatán displayed an impressive comeback to secure the map with a 13-10 score, tying the overall score at 1-1 and forcing a decider map.

The decider map on Ascent saw Evil Geniuses take a dominant lead of 9-3 at halftime. Although Leviatán showed resilience for several rounds, EG ultimately closed out the map with a 13-10 score once again, securing the series with a 2-1 score.

LOUD vs KRÜ Esports

The final match of week 5 showcased an intense battle between KRÜ Esports and LOUD, with KRÜ putting up an impressive fight-back effort. Despite losing the match, KRÜ managed to keep LOUD under pressure throughout. In the first map, KRÜ stunned the table toppers by securing a 13-10 victory. The second map, Ascent, witnessed a close fight as LOUD managed to secure the map and force a decider. In the final map on Split, KRÜ once again countered LOUD’s attacks, but LOUD maintained their composure and ultimately secured the map, showcasing why they are the top team in the league.

Despite the loss, KRÜ’s performance was commendable and highlighted their potential to cause upsets in the future.
