Week 7 of the VCT Americas League is coming to an end, and on its second day, we saw Sentinels keep their playoff hopes alive while NRG handed LOUD their first loss of the tournament.

There is no doubt that the VCT Americas is getting more interesting. With NRG’s victory over the powerful Brazilian team, it is just a small demonstration that no team is unbeatable. Meanwhile, Sentinels added their third tournament victory and will fight until the end to qualify for the playoffs.

Let’s look at what happened on the second day of Week 7 in the VCT Americas League.

Sentinels stay alive with win over KRÜ

Although the road continues to be very uphill for Sentinels, they still have a slim hope of advancing to the playoffs of the VCT Americas League. On the other hand, it is worth noting that KRÜ is currently the worst team in the tournament, as the South Americans have lost all eight games played, winning only four maps.

The match between Sentinels and KRÜ was played on Lotus (SEN) and Bind (KRÜ).

Lotus

The first map, Lotus, was a great display of balance and high-level play by both teams. Although they are at the bottom of the table, on this map, they were able to provide a lot of emotions.

It all started with Sentinels winning four of the first five rounds they played, which gave the team great confidence for the rest of the series. However, KRÜ woke up immediately, and they balanced the score to end the first half with an excellent 6-6.

Then, in the second half, Sentinels started the same, with a lot of determination in the first rounds on their attacking side. Then, KRÜ, with a practically impenetrable defense, managed to put the score 11-11 to send the game to Overtime finally.

Finally, Sentinels, led by Zachary “zekken” Patrone and Gustavo “Sacy” Rossi, took the victory in two consecutive rounds to put the series 1-0 in their favor.

Bind

In Bind, we observed more of the same because if Sentinels were going to react in these last two weeks of the tournament, it would not be easy. However, the North American team started the first half very strong on the defensive side and went on to an 8-4 partial victory.

Contrary to expectations, KRÜ woke up again on the defensive side and scored 10-12. However, Sentinels were able to close out their victory by 13-10 to add their third win of the tournament.

NRG hand LOUD its first loss of the tournament

The unbeaten streak is over! The NRG boys managed to crush the best team in the region, LOUD, with a resounding 2-0 win. Thanks to this, the VCT Americas teams can rest assured that LOUD is not unbeatable, and from now on, it is likely that the teams will be better prepared to face the Brazilians.

The series between LOUD and NRG was played in Split (LOUD) and Pearl (NRG).

Split

With a spectacular Victor “Victor” Wong, NRG managed to start the map pick of LOUD, Split, with an extraordinary partial victory in the first half by 9-3. There is no doubt that this result knocked the wind out of the LOUD boys, who were coming into this game with a lot of confidence after winning their first seven games played.

LOUD won the pistol round at the change of sides, but NRG continued at their best to win four of the next five rounds to take a comfortable 13-5 victory on the map.

Pearl

In the second map, Pearl, LOUD tried to react, and thanks to Matias “Saadhak” Delipetro, they showed a much better level of play that led them to equalize the first half by 6-6. Then, the Brazilians won the first two rounds by changing sides, giving them a partial advantage of 8-6.

However, this did nothing but wake up NRG, who, this time, had an inspired Ardis “ardiis” Svarenieks on the attacking side, who led his team to a resounding 13-9 victory.
