Betting company 1win will host its own invitational Dota tourney with some of the world’s best Dota teams fighting over a US$100,000 prize pool.

1win announced its 1win Series Dota 2 Spring, a 4-day tournament happening from March 16-19.

8 teams will be competing in the said tournament, such as 2023 The International Champions Team Spirit, as well as Team Liquid, Virtus.pro, Mouz, Entity, PSG Quest, L1ga Team, and 1win’s own pro esports team, 1win Esports.

1win Esports previously had their own Counter-Strike Esports roster, which competed in the ESL Challenger League. This roster disbanded in 2023.

A two-groups format will be used for this tournament, with matches being played using the GSL system of double-elimination brackets. This means, teams may attempt to qualify for the next round thrice. Two losses in a group will mean elimination from the tourney.

The top two teams from Groups A and B will fight in the playoffs, of which the four teams will be seeded into a single-elimination format.

All matches for the 1win Series Dota 2 Spring will be best-of-3s, with a BO5 Grand Finals.

1win has joined betting companies who have launched their own esports tournaments in a bid to capitalize the esports betting market. This year, BetBoom Dache will be holding two Dota 2 tournaments, while Thunderpick will host the second edition of their Counter-Strike 2 World Championship in April.

Esports betting has seen growth in recent years, with a bigger demographic appealing among younger players in the early-to-mid-20s. According to projections, the numbers are expected to change with around 15% of esport bettors being women by the end of 2024.
