VCT Americas League Week 2: Sentinels and Cloud 9 struggle as Brazilian teams maintain dominance

The second week of the main VALORANT league in the American region has ended, and the favorite teams have taken a step forward and won in their respective matches.

We are talking about LOUD and FURIA, who are looking unstoppable as they register their second win of the tournament. Meanwhile, 100 Thieves, Leviathan, Cloud 9, and MIBR are looking to tighten their spot in the upper points table with one win so far. After the intense Week 1 matches, we witnessed some of the intense action-packed matches from this week also.

Let’s look at what happened in Week 2 of the VCT Americas.

Unbeaten record of LOUD and FURIA continues

Brazilian Valorant teams are proving to be formidable opponents and continue to make waves in the international scene. Firstly, Team LOUD faced off against the North American powerhouse, Cloud 9. While they lost the first map with a score of 13-7, LOUD displayed remarkable resilience and made an impressive comeback in the following two maps, winning them both with scores of 13-8 and 13-7 respectively. In the end, LOUD emerged victorious with a tight 2-1 overall score.

One standout player in this match was Felipe “Less” de Loyola, who demonstrated exceptional skills on the agent Viper and KJ. Less contributed greatly to LOUD’s victory, dropping a staggering total of 58 frags throughout the match.

In the second match of the day, another Brazillian team FURIA were up against Leviathan. Very much like the first match, FURIA ended up losing the first map with a close 13-11 score. However, they did a similar comeback to win later two maps Icebox and Ascent. The scores were 13-5 and 13-11 respectively. Khalil “Khalil” Schmidt was the top contributor from the FURIA side by 56 kills.

NRG and MIBR register their first wins

NRG defeated Sentinels and mark their first win in VCT America League. The first map of Lotus ended with a 13-10 score for NRG. However, the second map was a complete disaster for Sentinels as they secured only 2 rounds in total. NRG secured the second map as well with a score of 13-2. Tenz looked off-colored on both maps. On the other hand, Sam “s0m”  Oh was MVP for his 40 frags.

Moving on to the second match of the day, It was a battle against two South American teams- KRÜ Esports vs MIBR, and guess what? it was once again when the Brazillian team showed their dominance. Following the footsteps of LOUD and FURIA, MIBR lost the first map but ended up winning follow-up maps. They finished this match with a 2-1 overall score. MIBR’s Olavo “heat” Marcelo on duelist was in beast form.

Week 2 ended with 100 Thieves crushing Evil Geniuses

Finally, we were about to end the second week of the League with the North American team’s clash – EG vs 100T. Fans were expecting to witness some action pack intense matches but sad for them as it was a one-sided deal for 100 Thieves. They crushed Evil Geniuses in both maps of Haven and Icebox. The scores were 13-9 and 13-5 in favor of 100 Thieves. 100 T’s Sean “bang” Bezerra on the controller to outsmart the opponents. In total, he dropped 41 kills.

100 Thieves will meet against Cloud 9 in the third week in another much-awaited match. Get ready to witness week 3 from April, 16th onwards.
