VCT 2023 Pacific Ascension Grand finals: Bleed Esports defeated Scarz 3-0

The grand finals took place as best of five series. Both teams were earlier met during the group stage when BLEED defeated Scarz 2-1. However, this time BLEED had no plan to let go of even a single map. Following were maps veto to be played in this match:

  • Haven – BLEED
  • Bind – SCARZ
  • Fracture – BLEED
  • Ascent – SCARZ
  • Lotus – Decider

Despite winning the pistol round, Scarz faltered in the first half, trailing 9-3 against BLEED on the first map of Haven. However, Scarz showcased commendable resilience in the second half. Ultimately, BLEED emerged victorious with a convincing 13-9 score. Nutchapon “sScary” Matarat of BLEED claimed the MVP title, securing an impressive 20 kills at a remarkable 1.47 K/D ratio.

Scarz, despite selecting Bind as the second map, suffered a resounding defeat at the hands of Bleed Esports. The first half concluded with a lopsided score of 10-2 in favor of Bleed, which extended to a final score of 13-2 as Scarz failed to secure a single round in the second half. With this dominant victory, Bleed Esports claimed a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series.

Notably, during the entire Bind map, Scarz’s Maksim “Jemkin” Batorov, playing as Reyna, did not manage to secure a single kill. This places him as the second player in the international VCT event to achieve this feat. The first player was Shiba, who also failed to secure any kills during the Paper Rex match against SMB in VCT 2021 Masters Berlin.

In the third and decisive map, Fracture, Scarz faced another challenging start with the first half concluding at 8-4 in favor of Bleed. However, this time, Maksim “Jemkin” Batorov made a valiant effort to overshadow his previous map performance, delivering an impressive 29 kills. Nevertheless, Bleed’s CrazyGuy proved equally effective, securing the match with a clutch play and a final score of 13-8.
