The season is progressing, and the different regional and international tournaments are ending. However, others, such as the RMR, are already on the horizon, and the qualified teams are already preparing for this new battle.

When discussing preparation, we also refer to logistical issues, as the organizations have well-structured plans for their different divisions. However, one of the topics that are rarely discussed is the teams’ travel to the tournaments. Many wonders who covers these costs, the organizations themselves or the tournament organizers.

It used to be that the organizers were in charge of the logistics of the players and coaches. However, that seems to have changed. According to reports in the last few hours, Valve has decided not to pay for the travel to the RMR for the team coaches.

Valve will not pay for coaches’ travel to RMRs

The antipathy that currently exists between Valve and the coaches of CS:GO teams continues to be more than evident today. According to the latest information on social networks, relationship is going from bad to worse.

According to Joshua “m1cks” Micks, current North American team Detonate coach, Valve will not pay travel for coaches to attend regional RMRs.

Undoubtedly, top-tier esports organizations can normally afford this expense and will not make a fuss if Valve does not pay travel for coaches. However, this is a huge cost for those smaller teams that don’t have big sponsors to get by.

Other coaches in the professional CS:GO scene have also come out to denounce the game developers who, according to them, do nothing but hinder coaches.

For example, Vladyslava Zakhliebina, Team Manager of OG, said on Twitter:

“Valve never paid for the coaches, only 5 players and a sub(which for many teams was a coach). Now it’s only 5 players… when all tier1 teams have at least 7 team members.”

In many teams, the sixth player (paid by Valve) is the same coach, so that they wouldn’t have a problem with that. However, for the upcoming BLAST.tv CS:GO Paris Major, Valve would not take care of this sixth spot, which the coaches normally filled.

BLAST is also not obliged to pay for the trip

Other reports indicate that BLAST is not obliged to pay for the travel to this sixth person. So it is very likely that this decision is entirely irreversible. The organization or team will bear the costs of airfare, hotel, and food, even though many do not have the means.

“Valve has treated coaches like garbage,” according to Wilton “zews” Prado, a former professional CS:GO player and current Fluxo coach.

Valve is targeting CS:GO coaches

Since the controversy regarding the coach bug several years ago, Valve has been tough on all CS:GO coaches. Right now, coaches can’t even be in the same room or the same voice chat in qualifiers. This makes communication between the players and the coach non-existent.

Moreover, these coaches cannot make any gestures or talk to the players in face-to-face events, only during the tactical breaks requested by the team. There is no doubt that with this, Valve wants the figure of the coach to disappear from the organizations gradually.
