Redgar joins Giants for 2024 VCT

Team Liquid’s Igor “Redgar” Vlasov has joined Giants Gaming for the upcoming VCT 2024 season as their in-game leader.... Shubh | 28. October 2023

Team Liquid’s Igor “Redgar” Vlasov has joined Giants Gaming for the upcoming VCT 2024 season as their in-game leader.

After weeks of speculations and rumors, Igor “Redgar” Vlasov has officially joined Giants Gaming as their in-game leader for the 2024 VCT season. The 26-year-old Russian IGL will fill in the shoes of Emir “rhyme” Muminovic, who announced his retirement from professional play a month ago.

With his extensive experience, the Russian IGL, who was a member of the elite Gambit Gaming lineup, may have a big impact on the Giants’ roster. He emerged victorious at Masters Berlin and VCT 2021: EMEA Stage 3 Challengers Playoffs before placing second at Champions 2021 while he was with Gambit, which subsequently became M3 Champions.

Redgar’s stint with Liquid comes to an end

During the VCT 2023 Season, Redgar moved to Team Liquid, which had its fair share of accomplishments and disappointments as well. Starting their VCT journey with a disappointing early exit at  VCT LOCK//IN 2023, the team bounced back at the VCT EMEA League, where they beat Fnatic in the finals to become the regional champions. In international events, however, the team failed to repeat its success, slumping to a fifth-sixth place finish at the VCT Master Tokyo and finishing 13th to 16th at the Valorant Champions 2023 without securing a single victory.

Following their disappointing exit from the Valorant Champions 2023, Liquid pressed the reset button and made many significant changes. The organization dropped Saif “Sayf” Jibraeel, Dmitriy “dimasick” Matvienko, and Dom “Soulcas” Sulcas last month. Now that Redgar has left the team, the only active players are Elias “Jamppi” Olkkonen and Ayaz “nAts” Akhmetshin, along with substitute Nico “Harmii” Harms.

Giants, on the other hand, started off their journey with a victory against DetonatioN FocusMe at LOCK//IN but soon got eliminated from the event after suffering defeat against NRG in a subsequent match. The team performed poorly at the EMEA League and failed to earn a spot as Master Tokyo. Giants, however, bounced back at the EMEA LCQ to secure at VCT Champions,  Los Angeles.

Unfortunately, two losses during the Group Stage sent the Giants home earlier than they would have liked. Soon after the Championship, the Spanish organization decided to overhaul its roster, cutting ties with their IGL rhyme during the offseason. Redgar’s signing, nevertheless, locks down the Giants’ squad for the 2024 season, when they’ll be trying to establish themselves and lead the Spanish team to triumph.
