The 2023 VCT Champions runner-up Paper Rex is gearing up for the 2024 Season with the signing of emerging Indonesian player Cahya ‘Monyet’ Nugraha.
The organization has officially announced the acquisition of Cahya ‘Monyet’ Nugraha, formerly of Global Esports. Monyet’s transition from Global Esports to Paper Rex marks a pivotal moment for the 18-year-old talent as he becomes the youngest member of Paper Rex’s squad.
The acquisition of Monyet is a significant one for Paper Rex’s Valorant roster as well. The announcement, coming from the Singapore-based esports organization, finalizes their Valorant lineup for the upcoming VCT 2024 season. Monyet will replace Wang “Jinggg” Jing Jie, who announced his stepping down from PRX’s active roster due to mandatory military service at the start of 2024, which has a compulsory duration of two years.
Monyet’s journey to Paper Rex was set in motion following his tenure with Global Esports, where he spent ten months making significant contributions to the team’s performance. Monyet, initially a Duelist and later a Controller, consistently showcased top-tier gameplay during his time with the Indian organization.

Monyet consistently stood out as the highest-performing player for Global Esports throughout the season. His impressive stats include achieving a team-leading 1.13 VLR rating during the first VCT Pacific League season, securing the fourth position in individual player standings.
Monyet also claimed the top spot in the VCT Pacific Last Chance Qualifier, surpassing notable regional players. One of his standout moments was setting a new VCT record for the most kills in a single LAN map during a memorable match against DRX, accumulating an astonishing 39 kills over 32 rounds, despite his team’s narrow loss in overtime, 15-17.
Paper Rex’s Chief Gaming Officer Harley “dsn” Örvall expressed his delight at the high-profile signing, believing that Monyet’s versatility and outstanding debut season in VCT Pacific are just the beginning of what he can bring to the team.
A familiar territory for Monyet
Returning to familiar territory, Monyet is eager to take his playing career to new heights with Paper Rex. This move reunites him with fellow Indonesian players, Jason “f0rsakeN” Susanto and Aaron “mindfreak” Leonhart.
Despite his recent role as GE’s primary Controller in the 2023 season, there are no concerns of role overlap with mindfreak, as Monyet predominantly played as a Duelist agent during his time with his former team ONIC. However, it will be interesting to see how his addition will work out in the group.
Paper Rex’s roster for the VCT 2024 season boasts a mix of seasoned players and promising talent:
- – Khalish “d4v41” Rusyaidee
- Ilia “something” Petrov
- Jason “f0rsakeN” Susanto
- Aaron “mindfreak” Leonhart
- Cahya “Monyet” Nugraha
- Wang “Jinggg” Jing Jie
- Alexandre “alecks” Sallé – Head Coach
