As both Gen.G and PRX set their sights for Masters Madrid, both also see potential and upcoming rivalries once they face off against their regional foes in VCT Pacific Stage 1.

The Kickoff champions, Gen.G, believe that two of their main opponents during Kickoff might emerge as a bigger threat for Stage 1.

Gen.G head coach Kang “Solo” Keun-chul says, “I would have to say Team Secret or RRQ. Because I think teams like DRX, T1, and Paper Rex will continue to be as good as they’ve been. Whereas, a team like Team Secret or RRQ will I think, be a lot better coming into Stage 1.”

Gen.G defeated RRQ in their Group C encounters during Kickoff – both matches ending in a 2-1 scoreline. They also defeated Team Secret during the Play-Ins, and eliminated them from Playoff contention alongside ZETA Division.

As for PRX, they didn’t have to look further from their playoffs opponent, which is T1.

PRX Head Coach Alexandre “alecks” Sallé simply said, “Probably T1, I think. They show a very high level. And I think they’re gonna just get better, you know.”

Jason “f0rsaken” Susanto’s brother, Kevin “xcurrate” Susanto, plays for T1 – and their 2024 Playoffs showdown has been dubbed by many talents as the “Susanto Brothers’ Showdown.”

However, alecks went into more detail about their entire Pacific Kickoff experience, saying it provided valuable experience for Masters Madrid.

“I think the Pacific as a region is, we’re quite healthy state. I think it’s good that Gen.G has performed to this level. I think having rivals that can push us to be even better in our own region is crucial for us to take the next step and win a tournament,” alecks stated.

He added, “second of all, I think we had a fun time. There’s a lot of stress in the single elim[ination] format, and maybe, maybe we can maybe can be better refined – but at least we got to see ourselves come through with, some of our experiments a bit wild, but I think winning some maps on split with triple duelist, imeans a lot for us, you know. It means that we are at least pushing the game in a direction that we feel is right for us. We have a lot of work to do, I think. And yeah, we’ll be ready for Madrid, hopefully!”

Both teams will now be doing preparations for Madrid, which will see them compete in international league play from March 1-14 in Spain.
