The rumors have been officially confirmed: Elias “Upset” Lipp will no longer be under Rekkles’ shadow at Fnatic, and instead will play for Team Vitality in the upcoming LEC split. When he played for Fnatic last season, he was considered to be one of the best ADCs in Europe.

When Fnatic’s announcement came that Upset was benched, many fans were at a loss and dissatisfied with this decision. In the LEC Winter Split 2023, he didn’t find a new team at first, but that has now changed. The current ADC, Matúš “Neon” Jakubčík, will now be benched in his place and will not play for Team Vitality in the LEC in the next split.

Upset had no perspective in Fnatic

As star ADC Martin ‘Rekkles’ Larsson said on stream the other day, Upset had no future in Fnatic alongside Rekkles. When Rekkles negotiated the contract with the team, it was important for him to know that he could play and not just be replaced at some point. Then it wouldn’t have made sense for him to sign the contract.

So it was clear from the start that Upset would have to find a new team sooner or later. He has now found that and the League community is definitely happy for him. On the other hand, one might feel sorry for Neon, it gets difficult to find a new team in the middle of the season.

Upset replaces Neon at Vitality

Upset will replace Vitality’s launch ADC Neon in the upcoming split. The organization has confirmed that Neon will not play for Vitality’s main roster in this split. “We will work with [Neon] to help him find a new team capable of leveraging his many talents,” Vitality said in an update on the team’s website.

Upset joins a team from Vitality primed to make another big move in the LEC in the upcoming split. In addition to established veterans like mid laner Luka “Perkz” Perković and support Norman “Kaiser” Kaiser, the team boasts two Rookie of the Year leaders in top laner Photon and jungler Bo.

Despite taking first place in the LEC Winter 2023 Regular Season, Vitality were eliminated in the Group Stage by SK Gaming in a decider match. After G2 won the Winter Split, the next LEC Spring Split kicks off on March 11. There we will see if Upset can make a memorable comeback!
