TSM look destined to fail in Tour 3 of DPC 2023

Tour 3 of Dota Pro Circuit 2023 is about to end and TSM, the team that won Tour 1 and Tour 2 in North America, will almost certainly fail to qualify for the Bali Major.

In this Tour, Shopify Rebellion have had a perfect run so far. Another team that has won every match in the first four rounds is nouns. The reason why there’s little chance for TSM to make a comeback is that they already have a record of 4 W – 2 L. So they can only play one more match.

Meanwhile, Rebellion and nouns have three matches left to play and most of their opponents will be easy to defeat. So even if TSM finish with a record of 5 W – 2 L, it’s likely that Rebellion will finish with seven wins and nouns with at least six.

TSM lost against Rebellion and nouns. The match against Rebellion was a bad defeat. Game 1 lasted just 33 minutes while game 2, just 21. In both cases, the team led by Tal “Fly” Aizik knew exactly what to do to win the fight.

The second defeat for TSM came just several days ago. After winning game 1, TSM tried some very unusual drafts and failed with them. Nouns picked Techies both times, which made the match even more complicated for TSM.

Game 2 lasted 40 minutes while game 3 ended after almost 44. In both cases, nouns tried to create as much chaos as possible in order to make space for their carry. The first time they had a Terroblade and the second time they had a Morphling. Both of these heroes are famous for their late game potential.

The problem for TSM is that they don’t have enough DPC points to guarantee themselves a spot at The International 12. With 750 points and probably 200 more for finishing Tour 3 in 3^rd place, they will be in a vulnerable position. Of course, 950 points could prove to be sufficient. But they’re at the mercy of Bali Major competitors.

Any upset at the Major could have dire consequences for them. Luckily for TSM, Shopify are likely to win Tour 3 and finish the regular season in the top 12. This means that in a worst-case scenario, TSM would only need to beat nouns to qualify for TI12.
