One of the largest gaming expos of the year has finished! Gamescom 2022 made a comeback to offline format... Daria Belous | 29. August 2022

One of the largest gaming expos of the year has finished! Gamescom 2022 made a comeback to offline format after two years of live events hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The exhibition was held from August 24 to 28 and featured new gaming announcements, more information about revealed projects, trailers, demos, interviews, awards, and much more.

Where Winds Meet — Open-world RPG in a martial arts setting

One of the biggest gaming announcements of this year is the upcoming open-world MMORPG by Everstone Studios. Where Winds Meet is set in medieval China, which quite resembles the setting of Ghost of Tsushima, which got a GOTY award in 2020.

The Where Winds Meet game trailer showed spectacular combats, parkour, and hunting. The developers also shared that the game will have a vast job system so players will be able to specialize in a “variety of identities and occupations that exist in an Oriental martial arts society.”

The Callisto Protocol destroys the stereotype of being Dead Space 4

The Callisto Protocol is an upcoming survival game which is developed by Glen Schofield, the “father” of the popular Dead Space series. Fans can’t resist comparing the two projects, but the recent trailer reveal during Gamescom managed to break the stereotype that the new game is just a Dead Space 4 under a different name.

The main difference between the two franchises is that the upcoming project will engage players to enter close combats as well as utilize the environment to beat down the monsters. The trailer showed that players will be able to toss enemies into the walls or spikes to kill them. The game will also feature a deep stealth system and vast weapons modifications.

Lies of P: reimagined Pinocchio in a dark setting

Neowiz Games decided to reimagine the childhood fairytale about Pinocchio, a wooden marionette. The team put the characters into a dark setting which resembles the Dark Souls game series. The trailer drew all the attention with impressive locations and enemies and features such as combat memory and customization opportunities.

We can definitely say that the crowd already likes the upcoming project as it won three awards during this year’s Gamescom. The story will also have a “lie system”, where a player “fakes it till he makes it” to become a human. Moreover, developers claim that chosen decisions will affect the ending of the story.

Dead Island 2 re-revelation after eight years of waiting

Dead Island 2 has got a new trailer after eight years after the release of an old one and it even included the release date. The video was saturated with action zombie fights both in hand-to-hand and with weapons. The developers also included cut scenes from the story. The release date is set for February 3, 2023.

New gameplay trailer of Hogwarts Legacy

Fans were super-excited about upcoming games in the Harry Potter franchise and developers heated the interest again with a new gameplay trailer. In the video, the students of magic school were trying dark magic and facing its consequences. The pre-order of the game will start on August 25, 2022.
