The year 2021 went extremely well for Nintendo. To ring in 2022, the February Fest Sale with over 1,000 games will take place in a few days in the Nintendo EU eShop.

Big Sale for Europe

On Thursday, February 10, all Nintendo Switch owners in Europe can participate in the sale of over 1,000 games. Some of the prices are massively reduced. At the moment there is no indication of which games will be on sale, but some people fear that it will be mostly Shovelware.

Shovelware is a term for video games that are poorly made in some way. Because the Nintendo eShop offers so many games from any number of different developers, many of the games that are removed from sale are met with interest from only a few players. In the past, some gamers have been able to snag mostly older titles and interesting indie games. But you never know what all will be included and from there, you should just be surprised what all will be included.

So far, there’s no word on whether North America will be able to join in on the sale. In the past, Nintendo has launched a similar sale for the region after the EU sale was announced, but that’s not guaranteed. And so far, there’s been no announcement of such a sale for the North America region.

For those of us from Europe, though, it’s definitely worth taking a look to see if a game you’ve been flirting with is on sale later this week. Games are up to 75 percent off during the sale.

A successful 2021 for Nintendo

Things have been going pretty gigantic for Nintendo lately. The year 2021 went more than just well for the company in terms of sales. Nintendo has the Corona pandemic to thank for its record sales. More and more people were or are forced to stay at home and therefore looked around for ways to keep themselves busy. In the process, many people bought a Nintendo Switch. Last year, the company sold more than 100 million Nintendo Switches.

Nintendo continues to have big plans: the company plans to invest more than 900 million dollar in game development. About $450 million will be put into movies and entertainment and even an amusement park. To top it all off, Nintendo wants to move from online to offline entertainment and wants to build huge theme parks in the near future. Around 3 billion dollars are planned for this.
