TheMongolz are one of the more surprising teams that have risen to the top of CS:GO this season. Back in November 2021, they were ranked 133rd globally. Now they’re ranked 26th. This team was good enough to qualify for the Paris Major.

Unfortunately for them, there they clearly showed their limits and were eliminated in the Challengers Stage. Their record was 1 W – 3 L but their victory came against GamerLegion, a team that ended up playing in the Grand Final!

To some extent, we could say that TheMongolz were unlucky at the Major. Their other three opponents were G2 Esports, Monte, and Grayhound. The only team they could have defeated without massively upgrading their playstyle was Grayhound.

However, despite the promising result and the fact that they proved to be strong enough to qualify for the Paris Major, TheMongolz has decided to change its CS:GO roster.

Roster changes

Tuvshintugs “Annihilation” Nyamdorj and Baatarkhuu “Bart4k” Batbold were removed from the team and have been replaced by Usukhbayar “910” Banzragch and Ayush “mzinho” Batbold. Both of these players are unknown to the Western World. We don’t know how good they are, what they’ve done so far in the CS:GO careers, and so on.

Of course, we can assume that TheMongolz did not remove their proven players without knowing who their replacements will be. When roster changes occur, even though the CS:GO community may not see the logic behind these changes, the reality is that the organizations themselves do a lot of research before they sign someone.

If they don’t think it’s in their best interest to modify their roster, they simply don’t do it. However, in this particular case, it’s a bit hard to imagine TheMongolz doing better with their new roster than they did with the previous one. Qualifying for a Major is no easy task and winning one of the Grand Finalists is even more complicated.

But TheMongolz did it, so they either didn’t have enough patience to further develop their roster, or the players just blamed each other for the loss and the atmosphere inside the team became toxic. Or, who knows, maybe the two players that left were not satisfied with their contracts.

Whatever the reason, TheMongolz are stepping into a new era. The game itself is about to change as well. Source 2 is right behind the corner and everyone is trying to get a good start.
