Óscar  “mixwell” Cañellas Colocho, the Spanish Valorant superstar, is reportedly close to joining Heretic’s Valorant team for the upcoming 2023 VCT season.

The Valorant off-season just got more exciting with the reports of mixwell joining one of the most popular esports organizations in Spain. A verbal deal has reportedly been made between the European organization Heretics and former G2 player mixwell, according to a report from Alejandro Gomis. The Spanish professional and Heretics have not yet provided any official details regarding the acquisition, but it seems likely that a contract will be signed because Heretics is publicly seeking to strengthen its squad in anticipation of the upcoming VCT in 2023.

Is Mixwell the right pick for Heretics

In 2020, Mixwell joined G2 Esports and made an impact not only on his teammates but also on his opponents in the VCT circuit. He led G2 to VCT 2021: Stage 3 Masters – Berlin, where the team finished in the top four. Despite not being able to qualify for the Valorant Champions 2021, the team remained a dominant force in Europe. Mixwell was, however, moved to the bench at the beginning of the 2022 season and remained on the sidelines for the first few weeks of the season. He returned to the team’s starting roster in February and helped them qualify for their second international event, the VCT 2022: Stage 1 Masters – Reykjavík.

Team Heretics, on the other hand, failed to advance to VALORANT Champions 2022 and seemed to be having trouble throughout the year finding a significant breakthrough in the regional event as well. However, Team Heretics was chosen as one of the ten teams to be a member of Riot Games’ partnered Valorant league in 2023, whereas G2 was not. Therefore, mixwell is apparently moving on to Team Heretics in an effort to restore the Spanish team to their former form in the early months of 2021.

Will mixwell reunite with kelogz under the Heretics banner?

The 25-year-old veteran delivered excellent performances for G2, assisting the European squad in winning significant matches in the VCT 2022 EMEA. On the other hand, his brilliant performance had spelled trouble for his former teammate Cista “keloqz” Wassim, who officially left G2 and joined the Spanish organization Heretics.

However, if the reports are true, it’s possible that Mixwell would get back together with his former teammate Keloqz. Given that both Mixwell and keloqz were observed playing the same role, Mixwell is more likely to be a threat to keloqz’s position on the team than a teammate at his side. As of right now, the team is still participating in competitions and none of the existing Valorant roster members have been released. There will be changes as the offseason progresses and the team prepares for 2023, but it’s unclear which players will be affected. Whatever the case, Team Heretics’ march to prominence may take a new turn with the arrival of superstar talent like mixwell.
