After the surprise announcement by Riot Games that The Guard, the VCT Ascension Americas 2023 winners, are not part of the VCT for next season, the organization is trying to make all the necessary moves to drop all the players.
Riot Games announced last August 29 that The Guard failed to meet one of the basic requirements for VCT teams. As a result, despite winning the VCT Ascension, they can play it in the VCT 2024.
However, the team is working as quickly as possible to terminate the contracts of all players on the roster so they can sign new contracts. It is unknown whether it will be with another organization or if each player will go their separate ways. However, we are certain that all members of the Guard lineup deserve and have earned the right to be in the VCT 2024.
The Guard is reportedly close to releasing all VALORANT players
According to George Geddes, the popular esports journalist with reliable sources within the VALORANT scene, The Guard would let go of their entire VALORANT lineup, including their Head Coach. In addition, Geddes’ report mentions that the organization will pay the rescission clause of all players’ contracts.
New: The Guard is set to release all players/coach without a buyout.
It is understood that The Guard will be paying the players their termination buyouts to ensure they can be signed to another organization without difficulty.

Thus, we have that the following players will be unrestricted free agents. As a result, they can sign their contract with any team in the VALORANT competitive scene.
- Trent “trent” Cairns
- Jonah “JonahP” Pulice
- Michael “neT” Bernet
- Ian “tex” Botsch
- Jacob “valyn” Batio
- Josh “JoshRT” Lee – Head Coach
Riot Games announces that The Guard is out of VCT 2024
This report comes to light after Riot Games announced on its official Twitter account that The Guard will not participate in the upcoming VCT season. According to Riot, the organization failed to meet one of the VCT’s basic standards, which mention that they “did not meet the timeframe for accepting the VCT Americas League team participation agreement.”

In addition, Riot also said that there will be no “promoted” teams playing in the VCT Americas League for next season.
There is no doubt that the community and players are really upset with this news. Many claim that they didn’t know anything about this move at all. Also, by becoming free agents without restrictions, they are likely to be approached by some organization to sign all of them. However, it is highly unlikely that Riot Games would agree to the lineup playing under another organization’s name in VCT Americas League 2024.
This might be the last time the Guard 2023 roster is together. I believe we will all be free agents soon:@valynfps@trentFPS@neT_valorant@JonahP_@texerino
