Amidst a wave of esports organizations entering the Chinese Valorant scene, Ninja in Pyjamas emerges by reintroducing their Valorant roster. After losing their previous team last year, the organization remained teamless, opting out of the first primary VCT season in the transition to the franchise model. They’ve returned, aiming to make their mark in the competitive landscape again.

This move signifies the organization’s strategic reentry into the thriving Chinese Valorant market alongside fellow esports counterparts. With renewed determination, Ninja in Pyjamas is poised to reclaim its position and compete fiercely in the evolving Valorant esports arena.

Ninja in Pyjamas announced comeback with Chinese Valorant roster

Ninjas in Pyjamas have formally entered the CN VALORANT arena, revealing a freshly assembled roster led by former Bleed Esports player Wong “JayH” Jia Heng as the Initiator. Chong “Fayde” Hoc Wah, previously with Team Secret and JiJieHao, supports the team from the coaching position.

This announcement validates earlier reports by journalist BoDork, which hinted at the organization’s strategic move towards the Chinese VALORANT scene. Joining from MY/SG is Bryce “bryce” Lee, who has transitioned to NIP after a stint with Louvre and Kizuna Esports during the 2023 season

Wong “YRSelect” Zi-Ting, having previously been part of Griffin E-Sports and JiJieHao, takes on the Controller role in the NIP lineup, reuniting with coach Fayde. The starting five from the Chinese circuit include Liu “Spring” Jun-Ting and Yang “Eren” Zheng-Wei, assigned as Duelist and Initiator,

Boost in Chinese Valorant Esports ecosystem

China has become a major player in the Valorant Champions Tour, an important esports competition. Leo Faria, who is in charge of Valorant Esports at Riot Games, praised the Chinese fans for their strong support, even when watching matches at inconvenient times due to time zone differences.

The Valorant Champions event in 2023 showed how committed China is, with a match involving the team EDG getting an incredible 1 million viewers, even though it started at 3 a.m. locally.

Just like Japan had its challenges but became strong in Valorant, China is also on a remarkable journey. This event is even more important because China plans to start its own official Valorant league in 2024, like how there are leagues for other regions like EMEA, the Americas, and the Pacific.

This upcoming Chinese Valorant league, starting next year, is expected to make Chinese Valorant even better. People in China are excited, even though the list of teams hasn’t been announced yet.
