VALORANT – Guild Esports Parts Ways with 3 Players

British organization Guild Esports has released Malkolm “bonkar” Rench, Yacine “Yacine” Laghmari and William Fant “draken” Sundin from its VALORANT roster, with the trio having been inactive since the end of last month. An official announcement was made on Thursday, with the org having posted the following message on Twitter:

“Today we’re officially saying goodbye to @Officialbonkar, @drakenCSGO, and @YACINELAGHMARI as they move on from Guild. They were responsible for some incredible highlights these past few months – and we know wherever they go next, they’ll find amazing success.”

Why Guild Released the Trio

The decision to release the trio comes after what was a disappointing season for Guild, who failed to make an impact in the VALORANT Champions Tour. Despite reaching the VCT: EMEA Stage Three Playoff quarter finals, they ultimately missed out on qualifying for the Masters Two Finals in Berlin, following a defeat against Giants Gaming.

Meanwhile, they also failed to take advantage of another opportunity at the Last Chance Qualifier, having fallen short with just one match remaining. Guild were beaten 3-1 by Team Liquid in the final, with their rivals securing their spot at the upcoming VALORANT Champions 2021 event in the process.

What the Future Holds for bonkar, Yacine & draken

Havin not had the desired impact since their arrivals, bonkar,Yacine and draken were all benched by Guild at the same time, putting their futures up in the air. We now know that their next steps will be away from the British org, with draken having already suggested that a return to CS:GO could be on the cards.

The Swedish veteran played for Inferno and Bonk in VALORANT, before joining Guild in October last year. The 26-year-old tweeted “passion over money” upon his release this week, which many have suggested almost confirms his return to the Valve shooter title. While a host of CS:GO pros have left for VALORAT over recent times, draken would not be the only to make the switch back to CS:GO of late.

It looks like nitr0 will be joining Team Liquid’s CS:GO roster, while autimatic is also believed to be closing in on a return to his roots. Guild will now have to delve into the transfer market, with the org having just two active players at present. Leo “Leo” Jannnesson and Saif “Sayf” Jibraeel have retained their spots for now, with it remaining to be seen as to who Guild picks up for the 2022 season.
