In just two weeks since its launch on December 7, Embark Studio’s first title, The Finals has amassed over 10 million players.

The Finals, which debuted in stealth at The Game Awards 2023 earlier this month, has amassed 10 million players globally, according to Embark Studios. Given that THE FINALS is an original IP and Embark’s first official video game, it is an amazing milestone that deserves to be celebrated.

The number of concurrent players in The Finals has been fluctuating almost daily over the past three days, from a low of about 75,000 to a peak of about 145,000, according to streamdb.info. It may be challenging to maintain high numbers like this even two weeks after a launch, and that’s before factoring in the amount of players on consoles. It appears that the game shows signs of slowing down, as long as the live-service game receives frequent upgrades and new additions.

Can the Finals beat legendary FPS titles?

The Finals exceeded other legendary first-person shooters on certain platforms as soon as it was released and got a lot of traction. The game just surpassed Roblox, Fortnite, and Call of Duty: Warzone to take the coveted “Top Free Game” place on Xbox. The game appears to have closed the gap between the many demographics within the genre with its inventive fusion of traditional first-person shooter gameplay and imaginative new elements.

Additionally, Embark Studios is already drowning in community input. After releasing an update with a holiday theme, Embark Studios paid attention to player feedback and issued a patch with several improvements and adjustments for the overall quality of the game. There is meticulous attention to detail, and the crew works hard to find and fix any bugs that crop up. The most recent update also includes some much-needed nerfs for Heavy builds and enhancements to the game’s anti-cheat measures, which have recently been under intense scrutiny.

For a recently published game, The Finals boasts a respectable number of features, but some players are hoping for further additions, including more skins and custom games. Unexpectedly, Embark decided not to release a roadmap that might at least hint at or validate upcoming game modes, maps, or other content.  This strategy makes sense since there is a chance that players may become irate and leave if new updates are promised and then postponed or canceled. Fans may, however, hope that these features—particularly skins—will be provided as soon as possible.
