An Apex Legends security analyst has confirmed that a streamer named raphyjb, who regularly reveals himself cheating on Twitch, has been permanently banned from the game. The streamer had openly cheated and used aimbots, among other things.

Hackers and cheaters are a common problem in all games, not just Apex Legends. Of course, this is particularly frustrating for the players who only play matches with their skills and their own abilities. It’s even more annoying when some show their cheats openly and even livestream them.

These hacks and cheats usually come in the form of wallhacks, sometimes enhanced movement abilities, or aimbots. Apex Anti-Cheat usually detects scammers automatically, but this is not always the case, with some hackers evading bans for weeks before eventually having to be manually banned.

In the case of raphyjb, he has been streaming cheating on Twitch for months before he was finally banned, which of course didn’t sit well with the community. He regularly showed himself cheating in Apex Legends on Twitch, dominating lobbies with an apparent aimbot, causing trouble among his viewers.

The streamer didn’t even come close to trying to hide the third-party software he used to cheat. His weapon automatically targets enemies, wiping them out before they stand a chance.

Respawn takes action

It’s not entirely clear what the streamer was thinking; maybe he thought he could get away with it. But now, Respawn has confirmed that he has been permanently banned from the game.

On Tuesday January 10th, 29-year-old British streamer and Apex player IntrepidusOne tagged Respawn’s security analyst Conor “Hideouts” Ford on Twitter, showing him a clip in which the streamer appears to be using an aimbot.

Hideouts responded immediately and shortly after this tweet was posted, he shared that the cheater was “banned by auto-detection”.

Streamer permanently banned

Because this ban can only prevent the streamer from playing on their original account, theoretically, they can just create a new one and continue cheating and streaming just like before — until they get banned again, that is.

And while it’s obviously a hassle to keep creating a new account, it’s not entirely certain that it will stop him from streaming and cheating in the future.

In a response to the situation, Respawn has promised anti-cheat improvements to come, and the community hopes the developer will act quickly to prevent more cheaters from ruining games.
