Valve just fixed a popular CS:GO exploit that was circulating the front pages of the CS:GO internet. This was a very quick reaction from Valve’s part, as the bug had only gained traction a few days ago. Amongst it, Valve also fixed some bugs and made some changes here and there. Here is a brief breakdown on what’s new.

The Mute Exploit

If you don’t know, recently a bug was discovered. You could mute an enemy player, but if you start recording a demo, the mutes will be gone. But the enemy player will be muted again if he’s in the vicinity, which gives the player an unfair advantage by knowing who and how many players are in a particular area.

Valve was quick to fix it, and now CS:GO is perfect again.

The County Update

County is a Dangerzone map. A barrel used to float high up in mid-air. Sometimes players would spawn outside the playable area during warmup. Some clipping issues were reported where players would get stuck while jumping. All these issues were fixed by Valve.

The Basalt Update

The beautiful, new Icelandic map got a few fixes too. The path from T Spawn to Green House had a lot of cluttered rocks. They were simplified by an open area with a simplified rocky staircase. The guest book had a few changes. A lot of books had revised names to portray Icelandic texts better.

Some missing sides of wood beams were fixed on A site, but apparently these were done in a previous update and only informed about in this one. Going for a swim in a lake outside the playable area would result in an instant death. That’s a bitter punishment for a relaxing swim, so Valve fixed it for us.

Thanks, Valve.

Flashbang Dance MVP Anthem Change

The music was changed. Though n0thing disclosed this secret days ago in a YouTube comment, it still is a welcome change. Here’s the before and after for the song.

The Vague Controller Support Changes

These updates are for Valves’ soon-to-be-released Steam Deck. It’s a portable gaming device, basically. In the Github open source code, there are hints for the rise of Vulkan Renderer as well.
Who could’ve seen that coming.

The Quiet Updates

Though not mentioned, there has been an update to the chat wheel, if you have them set up. Here’s a Before and After pic for the chat wheels.

There’s text stating what your character will say if you choose to make him say it.

The weapon screen has also been updated. Instead of seven equally sized sections, there is a separate section for every item you can have. That includes all grenades, your two weapons, your knife and Zeus, and of course, the bomb and the medishot. The weapons and bomb have larger sections than the rest, since they are more important. Some extra animations were tossed in too. Maybe these updates will be mentioned in the next patch notes, who knows.

Operation Riptide will be wrapped soon, with 4 weeks to go. The missions were leaked, and as it turns out, there are no Co-op Strike missions this time. That’s a shame, since I personally enjoyed them. After the original patch, Linux and macOS users complained of not being able to start the game. The blood turned blue, in some cases and the maps were broken. So, Valve made a patch to the patch and fixed these issues within a day. Enjoy, Apple users!
