The Best CS:GO players of 2022 – KSCERATO

After the phenomenal season that FURIA Esports had in CS:GO, it would have been strange to not have at least one Brazilian player from their roster in the top 20 CS:GO players of 2022.

Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato was recently ranked by hltv as the 9th best CS:GO player of 2022. This award was fully deserved, as KSCERATO worked very hard all year to make his team one of the best in the world. And to a large extent, he succeeded.

KSCERATO’s 2022 season

Brazil is one of those countries in which Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is quickly becoming a major phenomenon. But not that many teams from Brazil succeeded in doing something memorable in this esport.

Around six years ago, SK Gaming was dominating everyone. But their era only lasted for two seasons. Since then, we haven’t seen any Brazilian team achieve the same results. But FURIA Esports came close to doing something spectacular in 2022.

At IEM Rio Major, the biggest CS:GO tournament to date in Brazil, KSCERATO’s team finished third-fourth. And prior to that, they finished third-fourth in ESL Pro League Season 15.

FURIA was close to qualifying for the Grand Final at the Brazilian Major, but Heroic proved to be just a little bit stronger. KSCERATO’s squad won the first map and then lost the next two maps, to the immense disappointment of the fans, who cheered for them nonetheless.

Even in defeat, KSCERATO was the best player on the server, ending the match with 68 kills and 45 deaths. And in the quarterfinal played by FURIA against Natus Vincere, KSCERATO was by far the map of the match with 70 kills and 52 deaths. Aleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev had only 53 kills and 62 deaths!

Of course, if we look at FURIA’s entire year, KSCERATO may not look as strong as some of the other top CS:GO players. But the mark of a great player is his ability to peak when it truly matters. It doesn’t really help if a player goes completely crazy in an irrelevant match against an easy opponent.

Anyone can end such a match with a rating 2.0 of 1.50 or even 2+. But when the stakes are high and the opponent is world-class, being the man of the match is impressive. And that is why KSCERATO’s rank is fully deserved.

We’ll have to see what FURIA can do in 2023. Hopefully, they will continue to delight not just Brazil but CS:GO fans from around the world.
