Team BDS and GAM stay alive at Worlds 2023

The Worlds 23 Play-In Phase is on fire, and Round 1 is already history, as we have the four teams that will fight for the two slots for the Group Stage.

After the fifth day of competition in this phase, GAM Esports and Team BDS managed to get solid wins against LOUD and CTBC Flying Oyster, respectively, to stay alive in the tournament. In addition, it is fair to mention that both teams returned with resounding 2-0 victories and thus went into Round 2 with a lot of confidence.

Likewise, it is also worth noting that GAM Esports defeated Team Whales 3-1 in Round 2 of the Play-In Phase to qualify for the Group Stage of Worlds 23. A few minutes later, Team BDS will face PSG Talon to fight for the last place.

Team BDS plays for its life against PSG Talon

The European squad, Team BDS, is between life and death at the moment, as they will have to fight tooth and nail against a PSG Talon that is inspired in this Worlds 23. However, despite the terrible defeat suffered in the first match of the Play-In phase, Team BDS seems to have straightened its course, and now they are ready for the battle.

In the Elimination Match and the Decider Match, Team BDS managed to win two 2-0 victories against DetonatioN FocusMe and CFO, respectively, to advance to Round 2. Likewise, facing an experienced and talented team like PSG Talon in the defining match won’t be the same.

On the part of PSG Talon, they have the advantage of coming a little more rested to this match, but, above all, having seen Team BDS play several series. As a result, they might know their weaknesses and strengths heading into this match.

GAM Esports qualify for the Group Stage of Worlds 23

On the other hand, we have another very nice story with the guys from GAM Esports, who also lost their first Play-In match against LOUD. However, from that moment on, the team’s performance and level of play increased so that they got two wins in Round 1 against R7 and LOUD by 2-0 to advance to Round 2.

Then, in the decisive match in which the first place in the Group Stage of Worlds 23 was up for grabs, GAM stepped up to beat Team Whales 3-1. All the matches of the series were very close, and at times, we even thought that all 5 maps of the series would be played.

However, thanks to the spectacular performance of Đặng “Kati” Thanh Phê, who finished the series with a K/D/A of 17/14/34, 8.4 CS, 870 DPM, and 0.51 WPM, they managed to take an excellent 3-1 victory.
