In this offseason of the Dota 2 competitive scene, we have many teams that will give a blow on the table, making rebuilds in their squads facing the next season. One of these teams is Talon Esports, who released all their Dota 2 players to start a major squad renovation.

After a disappointing performance at The International 12, where they finished between 9th-12th place, Talon Esports decided to exit all their players to start a renovation. However, after the announcement, many might have thought that the team would leave the competitive scene of Dota 2. Still, the organization was responsible for clarifying that they would return with a completely new squad.

Talon Esports announces that they are dropping all their Dota 2 players

Through a post on their official Twitter/X account, Talon Esports announced that they are dropping their Dota 2 lineup immediately.

As We can see in the post, the organization mentions that they agreed with the players to part ways. As a result, all squad members are free agents and are exploring their options on the market. In addition, Talon Esports asked fans to continue to support the team as it begins a new era.

Talon Esports’ start in the Dota 2 competitive scene was somewhat complicated, as, in 2021, they had many problems with stability and level of play. However, when they formed the squad they had during 2023, the team became one of the most dangerous in the region and even was considered the best in the SEA region.

Talon’s former lineup is as follows:

  • Worawit “Q” Mekchai
  • Anucha “Jabz” Jirawong
  • Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon
  • Chan “Oli” Chon Kien
  • Rafli “Mikoto” Fathur Rahman

Talon Esports 2023 Season

While the team had good results in 2023, they still had some ups and downs in the DPC, as they placed 3rd, 2nd, and 4th in all three Tours this season. As a result, the team did not qualify for the Bali Major, but they did score enough points to play the TI 12.

On the other hand, Talon Esports made its pretensions in the Dota 2 competitive scene in international tournaments very clear. At the Lima Major 2023, they finished in third place, in fourth place in the DreamLeague S20, and finally took third place in the Riyadh Masters, where they took home $1.7M.

Future of the players

There is currently no information regarding the future of the players who just left the Talon Esports lineup. However, 23savage shared a post on his Twitter account thanking the organization and, most importantly, taking a trip back to his early days there.

The rest of the players also shared messages of thanks on their Twitter/X accounts, so it is more than clear that it was a decision taken together.

For now, we can only wait and see what Talon Esports’ decision will be regarding rebuilding their roster for 2024.
