The second most experienced (in terms of years on the scene) active player in the BIG lineup has decided to leave after the team’s poor performance at IEM Katowice 2023.

This is Florian “syrsoN” Rische, who has decided for “personal reasons” to separate from the starting lineup of BIG. The team has announced on social networks that the player will not be part of the qualifiers for IEM Brazil 2023. They further claim that this is due to “personal reasons” and that Marcel “hyped” Köhn will be his replacement.

Disappointing participation at IEM Katowice for BIG

This information came out after BIG had a disappointing performance at IEM Katowice 2023. The German team was able to get through the Play-In phase by beating teams like Complexity and FURIA Esports, but they could not win any games in the Group Stage. They lost to G2 Esports (2-0) and Team Spirit (2-1). With this, BIG finished in 13th-16th place in the tournament that is still ongoing in Poland.

Despite his exit from the lineup, there is no doubt that the 26-year-old veteran player has performed well in recent months. According to HLTV, syrsoN has a 1.08 rating and a K/D of +47. He was by far the best BIG player at IEM Katowice 2023.

About syrsoN

SyrsoN is currently the second longest-tenured player on BIG’s CS:GO roster. He joined the organization in 2020 after his time at Sprout and was a team’s mainstay for several years.

The 26-year-old German was awarded as the 10th best player in the world according to HLTV in 2020. This after helping BIG to win several important tournaments and reach the #1 position in the world ranking.

Let’s remember that in 2020 tournaments were played completely online due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and syrsoN and BIG took advantage of this to make a place among the best.

About BIG

The German organization has not had the same performance as that powerful team of 2020. Their performances in international competitions have left much to be desired, but let’s not forget that some players have missed important events due to health problems. Even syrsoN himself could not participate in the Elisa Masters Espoo 2022 because he tested positive for Covid-19 a few days before the event.

2023 has not been a good year for BIG either. Before their disappointing run at IEM Katowice, BIG finished 7th-9th in the BLAST Premier Spring Groups, which sent them to the Showdown tournament to fight for a spot in the BLAST Spring Finals.

This new BIG lineup is currently competing in the qualifiers for IEM Brazil 2023, where two spots for the tournament are at stake. In these qualifiers, we have potent teams besides BIG, like ENCE, Bad News Eagles, and Sprout.
