Just one month after their historic win in the NACL Summer split, DSG is parting ways with its League of Legends roster.

In the fast-paced world of esports, one organization recently made headlines for both its sudden rise and equally rapid fall. Disguised Toast’s esports venture, known as DSG (Disguised Toast Gaming), experienced a rollercoaster year in the North American League of Legends scene.

DSG initially grabbed the spotlight with its League of Legends roster, which seemed like an underdog dream team. The organization, owned and operated by popular streamer DisguisedToast, stepped in to fill the void left by a mass exodus of LCS (League of Legends Championship Series) teams. Comprising a mix of seasoned scene veterans and long-time academy players, DSG quickly became the feel-good story of North American LoL.

Their moment of glory came in the NACL (North American Challengers League) Summer split. DSG’s historic run stole the community’s hearts, culminating in a remarkable victory in the NACL Summer split. It was a Cinderella story that had esports enthusiasts cheering for the underdogs. However, just a month after their monumental win, DSG made a shocking announcement – they were parting ways with their title-winning roster.

What Lies Ahead?

DisguisedToast shed light on this decision during his interview with Dexerto, emphasizing that it was, in fact, the best move for the players’ careers. “As an NACL team, there is currently no pathway for any DSG players to work their way up to the LCS as long as they remain on the team. We would vouch for each of their work ethics and encourage all LCS teams to give them a trial,” he explained.

The decision comes at a time when changes are anticipated in the LCS during the offseason, which could create opportunities for these players to earn places on LCS teams. The aim of this strategic move appears to assist these skilled individuals in advancing their careers in the highly competitive realm of professional League of Legends. However, DSG fans need not despair entirely. The organization has stated that it will remain in the NACL for 2024, albeit with an entirely new roster.

This transition also marks a new beginning for DSG and an opportunity for emerging talent to showcase their skills. DisguisedToast has even hinted at the possibility of moving DSG up to the LCS in the future. However, he maintains a cautious approach, considering the financial aspects and the practicality of such a leap.
