The Summer Game Fest showcase, which was held yesterday, June 9, gave us a bunch of sneak peeks into some of the most anticipated upcoming gaming titles, as well as completely new ones. Here’s the recap of trailers, gameplay previews and reveals that were showcased in yesterday’s live event.  

The Last of Us Part I Remake

The remake of the original title from 2013 will include new enemy AI, 60FPS performance, improved controls and graphic effects. The PS5 version will be released on September 5 while the PC version of the title is still in development with no specific release date. Moreover, Naughty Dog also revealed the lead actors of the upcoming TLoU TV series by HBO. 

During the showcase, a new multiplayer game in the Last of Us world was revealed. The game will have its own storyline with plenty of new characters, which will allegedly take place in San Francisco. However, there are not many details about the title, nor the official release date, only a concept image.

New Street Fighter 6 trailer 

Capcom already announced the new sequel in the Street Fighter franchise during the recent State of Play showcase. At Summer Game Fest, the developers again drew attention to the title and showed a new gameplay trailer featuring Guile on Air Force Base stage. 

Aliens: Dark Descent reveal trailer

The new game in the Aliens franchise will be released in 2023 on PC and consoles. As a part of the gameplay, players need to control Colonial Marines in a real-time battle against Xenomorphs. Based on the top-down perspective shown in the trailer, the genre seems to be RTS. 

The Callisto Protocol extended gameplay shown

The Callisto Protocol is a game by the “father” of the Dead Space horror series. Glen Schofield’s new project seems to be one of the scariest games in the genre, as the new trailer showed brutal monsters and savage fights in a room full of blood. 

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 gameplay trailer

Activision gave fans a glimpse of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 gameplay. The new teaser showed the first mission of the main campaign called “Operation Dark Water”. The game will be available on October 27 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC with beta testing starting in August. 

Layers of Fears now in development in Unreal Engine 5

New Layers of Fears game expands its technology as it is being developed in Unreal Engine 5. Bloober Team hinted that the game can be considered a remaster and a sequel that is “built on the foundations” of the original trilogy — Layers of Fear, Layers of Fear: Inheritance, and Layers of Fear 2. 

Spider-Man joins Marvel’s Midnight Suns

A new trailer of the upcoming game in Marvel’s universe showed Spider-Man who joined the battle of superheroes. Midnight Suns is developed by Xcom creators so the game seems to be an exciting RPG. The gameplay will see players using cards with abilities to defeat the enemy step by step. The release date is scheduled for October 7. 

Gotham Knights: Nightwing Gameplay Trailer

Warner Brothers revealed a new gameplay trailer of Gotham Nights with Nightwing. The action featuring superheroes will be published on October 25.

The legendary Flashback series returns with a sequel

The original sci-fi platformer was released back in 1992. The second part of the game will be available in winter 2022. 

Humankind is coming to consoles

Amplitude Studios strategy game Humankind will be released on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One on November 4 with a new DLC called Cultures of Latin America.

Witchfire developers break silence after five years 

The first reveal of the dark fantasy first-person shooter occurred at The Game Awards 2017 and since then there was no official news about the game. Now, the developers shared a game trailer saturated with gun fights along with a promise that the title will be available in Early Access soon. 

Fort Solis game trailer

The developers of the space horror game Fort Solis revealed the game trailer. The main roles of the title were played by Roger Clarke (Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2) and Troy Baker. The game is being created in Unreal Engine 5.  

Routine

Routine is a space-themed horror with Robots. Mick Gordon (DOOM) is responsible for the music. The announced platforms are Xbox Series, Xbox One and PC. 

New RTS by ex-Blizzard employees

Frost Giant, the studio created by former Blizzard Entertainment staff, announced their first RTS project called Stormgate. The video contained only a cinematic without gameplay footage. The game is going to be free-to-play and its beta is scheduled for 2023.
