This offseason of the VALORANT competitive scene has been plagued by rumors and reports regarding players signing for an organization or teams releasing their entire roster.

This time, we have one of the world’s most popular football clubs, FC Barcelona, which has an esports division and is reportedly close to entering the VALORANT scene by 2024. Reports detail that the club would play in the Spanish regional league with a Challengers squad next season.

Reports claim FC Barcelona is close to entering VALORANT esports

According to a report from esports journalist Lembo, FC Barcelona is very close to entering VALORANT’s Spanish Challengers scene by 2024.

The Spanish report references FC Barcelona’s competition in LVP Rising, Spain’s main Tier 2 league.

On the other hand, this news comes hand in hand with all the changes Riot Games is making to the VALORANT Tier 2 and 3 scenes. Let’s remember that Riot significantly updated the Challengers scene with a better calendar, associated teams, and what has attracted the most attention, the “integration” of the Premier.

Similarly, it is also fair to mention that many organizations have decided to leave the VALORANT Challengers scene in recent months. However, others, such as SK Gaming and the possible arrival of FC Barcelona, mean that Level 2 will be maintained.

About Barça Games

Barça Games is an esports project created by FC Barcelona, FireSPORTS, and Mas Ros Media.

The Spanish club plans to provide all its fans with different games, streams, esports, movies, series, or documentaries in this project. Similarly, this project is still in its planning stage since, as announced, it will be launched in April 2024.

About Barça Esports

While it is true that many may think that being such a popular and well-funded club team, Barça Esports has not fully taken off in the esports scene.

Currently, the Spanish club only has one team in the League of Legends Tier 2 scene, which competes in the “LVP Superliga.”. However, Barça Esports had a Rocket League squad several years ago, which was disbanded in 2021.

On the other hand, this project was announced a few days after Leo Messi was announced as co-owner of KRÜ Esports, along with his former teammate and friend Sergio “Kün” Agüero. However, the big difference between these two organizations is that KRÜ is part of Riot Games’ VCT franchises.

Finally, it is fair to mention that the worldwide VALORANT Challengers scene will start in February next year. However, the Spanish regional scene has not yet shared its guidelines for the next season, so we will have to wait for the official information regarding the start of the LVP Rising.
