Former Sentinel player ShahZaM slams the organization for denying him a spot on the Valorant roster in a heated Twitter dispute with Sentinel’s CEO Rob Moore.

Many professional players, fans, journalists, and even other esports organizations have weighed in on the dispute between the CEO of the Sentinels and renowned Valorant player Shahzeb ‘ShahZaM’ Khan, causing a stir in the NA Valorant Scene.

Former Sentinels player ShahZaM claimed that the management of Sentinels broke the promise it made to him when it added Michael “shroud” Grzesiek to its Valorant lineup. Khan claimed that Sentinels personally assured him of a position in the partnered Valorant roster for the 2023 season, but he was dismissed before the new season.

The former Sentinels player further asserted that Shroud’s placement on the team’s roster was purposely done to generate buzz for the organization, as the management was unconcerned about the team’s performance in the competition.

Swiftly striking back with a tweet, Rob Moore denied the assertion, implying that ShahZam had never intended to stay with the organization. While pointing that Rob was lying about being offered a seat on the squad, Rob criticized ShahZaM’s conduct in the 2022 season. After reading the tweet, ShahZaM immediately replied, urging the CEO to take responsibility for his words and make amends. Moore repeated again that he had not made that commitment.

ShahZam and G2 Esports have a long way to go

The star Valorant player joined G2 Esports after being supposedly denied a seat by Sentinels. According to reports, Riot’ rejected G2 Esports for its partnership program after a heated controversy involving Andrew Tate and Carlos “Ocelote” Rodriguez, the organization’s former CEO.

While Sentinels will soon make their debut in the international league with an explosive roster, it is still unclear whether ShahZam will be able to secure his place in any partnered team. It is also unlikely that ShahZaM will be able to play against his former team unless G2 qualifies for the VCT Americas League through Ascension, which is unlikely to happen until 2024 as per Riot’s roadmap.

Sentinel will make their debut under a firestorm of controversy

Amidst the hot dispute, Sentinels will participate in the forthcoming Ludwig x Tarik Invitational LAN tournament in Los Angeles, which is slated to take place from January 14 to 15.

TSM and The Guard, two teams who will participate in the Challengers League’s first Split in North America alongside Sentinels, will also be present at the invitational tournament along with T1. This South Korean team is also one of the partnered teams in the Pacific League of the VCT.
