According to different reports in the last few hours, Valve plans to hold the second Major of the CS2 season 2024 in Shanghai, China. In addition, these reports claim that the organizers could be PGL and Perfect World.

The news around the Counter-Strike 2 competitive scene continues even though Counter-Strike 2 has not yet been released worldwide. Day after day, the hype and expectation from the community increase, and many can’t wait for any of these days to upgrade our CS:GO to CS2. However, Valve has not given any clues; they stand by the official statement from March, where they assured that the game will be released in the summer of 2023.

Reports claim that the second CS2 Major will be played in China

Different sources claimed to the popular website HLTV and Dust2.br that Valve plans to host the second CS2 Major in Shanghai, China. In addition, there was also talk that this Major will be played in early December 2024, so everything seems to indicate that the plans of two Majors per year are still on track.

The report by HLTV details that PGL and Perfect World will host the Major. For those who do not know, Perfect World is the company dedicated to editing the CS in China, and, in addition, they will do it with the support of PGL, which will organize the first CS2 Major in March 2024 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Another highlight of the press release is that the dates for the RMR qualifiers in each region have already been announced. According to HLTV, these will be played from October 26 to November 13, 2024. In addition, everything points to the main event, i.e., the Major, being played from December 1-15, 2024.

Dates reaffirm a previous report

As mentioned in a previous article, a few days ago, it became known that Valve was making some proposals to tournament organizers for the Majors being played in 2025 and 2026. However, nothing was said regarding 2024, except that the first Major will be played in March in Copenhagen, as was stated several months ago.

Likewise, this news only reaffirmed that Valve plans to start with the new schedule at the end of 2024. This new schedule would be that each of the two Majors to be played yearly will be played at the end of each season, that is, in June and December.

Now, if this news is confirmed and Valve organizes the CS2 Major in Shanghai, China, it will be the first time in history that it will happen. Let’s remember that Valve never took into account the Asian region to organize a Major, and now it wants to start the CS2 era in a big way.
