ESL Pro League EU: mouz Take Down Complexity

In the first match of the day, mousesports were able to eliminate the shooting stars of Group B, Complexity. This means that they’re still in contention for the playoffs. Right after that, OG were able to set themselves on top of ENCE. The duel between BIG and GODSENT lasted deep into the night, until the Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz and his team finally claimed their well-deserved EPL points.

MOUZ 2-0 COMPLEXITY

Complexity have presented themselves beautifully during EPL so far and have won every match. They have already beaten fnatic, NiP and Astralis, but against mousesports, they were unable to impress. On Nuke, the mouz players went up 9-6 on their T side. Unfortunately for them, Complexity struck back with an equally strong T half, until the two sides arrived at overtime. After 12 grueling rounds, mousesports came out on top. Complexity’s Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke was actually the star on the server with 38 kills. The mousesports players underperformed across the board, but that hardly mattered when they still got the map win at the end of the day.

On Mirage, they got going individually as well. Without k0nfig leading the charge, Complexity were hopelessly outmatched. A 12-3 lead for mousesports helped them secure the 16-8 victory with relative ease. With this match win, they’re one step closer to playoffs territory.

OG 2-1 ENCE

The first two maps were actually not that exciting to watch. On Dust2, ENCE managed to secure their map pick, while OG struck back on Inferno. On Mirage, however, Mateusz “mantuu” Wilczewski exploded and got 27 kills on the board. He and Issa “ISSAA” Murad basically carried this map and made sure to give the ENCE players a sound 16-4 beating. For mantuu, this was a historic performance. He secured a 2.17 rating and 124.9 ADR, a career high.

BIG 2-1 GODSENT

Despite their bad track record in EPL, GODSENT were still in contention for the playoffs. However, that would have required them to win their match versus BIG. They certainly had that goal, as they managed to claw back from a 4-11 half on Vertigo. At 15-8 in favor of BIG, Kevin “kRYSTAL” Amend and his boys kicked into a higher gear and didn’t lose a single round for a 19-15 upset. Jesse “zehN” Linjala and Martin “STYKO” Styk were the top performers for their team.

With this surprise victory, they transitioned to Mirage. There, GODSENT pulled off a reverse of the first map as they got an 11-4 halftime lead on the board. Unfortunately, they struggled massively on the T side. This gave BIG a window back into the game, which they exploited to eventually reach overtime. STYKO and zehN fought with all their might, but BIG eventually got away with a 22-19 win.

On the third map, GODSENT had no fighting spirit left in them. To be fair, at that point it was well after midnight already. GODSENT faltered on the T side and conceded a quick 7-16 to BIG. The Germans are now at the top of the Group A standings alongside ENCE and Natus Vincere. GODSENT, on the other hand, have lost their last chance at a playoffs spot.

Exciting times are still ahead in EPL. Today, we’re going to catch a tense duel between Vitality and Complexity in Group B. Before that, G2 will take on AGO. Natus Vincere and Heroic will follow next.
