The war in Ukraine due to the Russian invasion continues to cause a lot of material damage and damage to the lives of the entire Ukrainian population. In addition, this has also greatly affected many people linked to esports, as we must remember that many of the great players today are of Russian or Ukrainian nationality.

On the other hand, the limitations imposed by the local government to preserve the integrity of their country and, most importantly, of its inhabitants have affected some players who have not been able to travel from Ukraine to the different esports events. This is the case of Sergey “lmbt” Bezhanov, Head Coach of Monte, who cannot attend the BLAST.tv Paris Major due to travel restrictions in Ukraine.

lmbt announces he will not attend the Paris Major

Via his Twitter account, Monte Esports Head Coach lmbt has announced that he cannot attend the BLAST.tv Paris Major due to travel restrictions in Ukraine. As a result, the reigning CCT West Europe Series #3 champions will have to manage to advance to the next tournament stage without their coach.

Recall that since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022, the local Ukrainian government has implemented travel restrictions on men between 18 and 60. According to local government statements, these measures are to have the necessary human resources in the country in case of any emergency. While during 2022, these restrictions were a little less strict, they are now very much so, and Russia is expected to make many more attacks in the coming weeks.

There is no doubt that this is a very painful loss for the Ukrainian team, as let’s remember that they will have to start their way in the Challengers Stage of the Paris Major, nothing more and nothing less than against FaZe Clan.

However, a few hours ago, lmbt published a Tweet where we note that he fully understands the situation and is willing to do anything for his country.

Now it remains to wait for how Monte will behave without their Head Coach in this tournament. The team has great talents and unmatched experience from Viktor “sdy” Orudzhev, so FaZe Clan may be slightly worried.

Monte was a pleasant surprise to qualify for the Paris Major

Any bookmaker did not favor Monte to qualify for the BLAST.tv Paris Major. However, the team pleasantly surprised everyone with their participation in the RMR Europe B. After four matches played and an excellent 3-1 record, they took fourth place in the qualifiers, thus sealing their ticket to Paris.

And that’s not all; Monte managed victories against top teams like Cloud9, forZe, and ENCE, proving that their great performance is no coincidence. In the RMR, Monte only lost to Heroic, the #1 team in the world according to the HLTV Rankings, in the group stage and then against Team Vitality (#2 in the world) in the Legends Stage qualifier.

After this great result, Monte continued to show great potential and won, for the second time in a row, the champion title in the CCT West Europe 2023.

We know that the Paris Major has the best of the best, but Monte could be one of the tournament’s Dark Horses.
